Hi all,

I am applying to the BSN program at national this month & wanted to start a feed to see if there's anyone else out there applying/preparing for TEAS, etc!

Thank you @mr_edwino! Super helpful!!

I went here and I found some very useful information about what to expect and focus on for the TEAS, especially for the science section.

Thank you @airwicka!

Here is another site I have been using. I found this one to be really helpful in getting a feel of how the actual TEAS is going to be.

@airwicka you're the best!!

Has anyone asked Elizabeth how many applicants there were for this cohort?

In case anyone is interested, I'll share my quizlets that I made/found for the TEAS assessment.

Here is the link:

Feel free to use any other quizlets in my folders as you see fit. Good Luck to everyone

After spending some time working with one specific writing center tutor, I got my hands on the basic outline of what we should be framing our expressive essays like. Took a while to wrap my head around it because I was hung up on the idea of just writing an organized free form essay. He claims he used to grade them as part of the board that has to read the 300 or so essays every cohort application. So here's the basics:

1. Introduction

a. Hook

b. Thesis - with three parts that you can break down in the body

c. Transition

2. Body 1

a. Give background info (2-3 sentences) on part 1 of thesis

b. Referencing example #1

c. Commentary (2-3 sentences explain citation) Why is it so important, etc.

d. Citation #2 Another example...

e. Commentary (2-3 sentences explaining citation) Relate to nursing...

f. Transition statement (transitioning to next paragraph)

3. Body 2 repeat for part 2 of thesis

4. Body 3 repeat for part 3 of thesis

5. Conclusion

Where I was treating a question like 'Write about a time that you used interpersonnel communication to work through a difficult work situation' as to tell a literal story, I'm supposed to break it down, always relate to nursing, and still try to make it interesting. If you can master this outline style (spending a max of 15 min of the allotted hour), I would think any question they can ask can be easily answered thoughtfully and with the max number of points.

LMK what ya think.

Thank you for sharing this. The essay is what I am the most stressed about.

I found is quite difficult to write this way honestly. My natural style is more stream of consciousness with excessive alliteration. I decided to embrace the overall structure as best I can. But crowbaring how I write into this exact format would eat up all my time. It's still an expressive essay, it's still a person plowing through dozens of these in one sitting. Capture the reader, answer the question and sell yourself while relating it all to nursing :p

Good luck!

Mine is the 27th, so they must be staggering them out with so many of us applying.

how did it go??

How did it go?! I am very nervous about the essay portion. If you don't mind sharing, what was your essay topic?
