Hi all,
I am applying to the BSN program at national this month & wanted to start a feed to see if there's anyone else out there applying/preparing for TEAS, etc!
To my fellow alternates:Has anyone received an email yet with further instructions? I know the first email we received said to expect something after April 13 so I'm just wondering if anyone has gotten anything.
I emailed Elizabeth she said their is no follow up letter. We will get our acceptance letter at the same time as the Cohort 56 applicants.
Hello,I was just accepted into both NU's Cohort 55 and CSUSM's Fall Cohort... I really am having a tough time deciding. What are the pros and cons of each school (i.e. Cost, start date, prestige, location, etc)? Which would you choose?
Thanks for the help!
I was originally interested in acceptance at CSUSM because it appeared to me to have a bit better of a reputation. That being said, I have found that National's reputation is better than I had previously thought. Overall, I am not sure anymore which is more highly regarded.
After looking at both schools I found that if you don't already have a bachelor's degree it is substantially cheaper to go to CSUSM because it is a state university. However, If you are going for your 2nd bachelor's degree, you are attending through their extended learning school and the cost is actually double, which comes out to costing a bit more than National University.
Also, it is only the spring cohort (the one that starts in January) that attends school at the CSUSM campus and performs clinicals in SD county. Both the summer and fall cohorts (which it sounds like is one you have been accepted to) have classes at the CSUSM campus in Temecula. Because of this, your clinicals can be assigned in both the southern OC area and any place in SD county. For example, you can be assigned to work somewhere in Riverside or Irvine on one day and then maybe Chula Vista the next.
I was personally informed of the cost at an info session I attended and I was told by a girl in one of my classes, whose boyfriend was in the fall cohort at CSUSM in 2017, about the school and clinical locations. I hope that helps.

I forgot to mention that National University's classes are in Rancho Bernardo and the clinicals are all performed in SD County.
