Hello everyone!

My name is Dusty, and I'm starting this topic because I haven't seen any conversations started for Cohort 60 starting October 10, 2019. If I missed a thread already made, please let me know so I can hop over to that one. If not, then please introduce yourself so we can all get to know and help each other out! Look forward to meeting you all :)

Wow they were pretty high ??

Yeah, just remember they're averages. So there's some room to play with.

Did anyone else notice that they pushed the application deadline back another week? I just checked my portal and saw that it's 4/26 now.

@lilppr I really just reviewed my A&P 1/2 notes and powerpoints from my classes. I took it a year and a half after A&P so I was pretty rusty. I found the practice tests through the ATI website VERY helpful. They're a bit pricey, but I think it's worth it. If you can only afford to take one, I would recommend Practice Test B personally. That's the one I found to be harder, but I also improved the most on it from my first to my second try versus version A.

Thanks I appreciate it ! Good luck!

Hi Daybreak, thanks for joining us! The GPA is based on 4 classes: A&P1/2, microbiology, and Bio stats. Also, the essay is given to random professors who grade it. At least that is what I've heard.

At National they have Micro lab and lecture separate. I think if you took micro outside of national it is together. ( so 4 classes vs. 5)

hello everyone, as everyone here applied to the cohort 60. good luck everyone. got my TEAs date set in. and ive been reviewing like crazy.

Hey everyone! Just checking back in. I was curious if anyone knew how many applicants there were for this cohort?

I was wondering how many of you have repeated the essay and done better I got a 4/5 on my essay but am wondering the chances of doing better on my essay or should I just focus on my TEAS which is 84?

Did anyone was able to find out how many applicants for cohort 60?

How many points in total you have? lilppr go by that. I think the cutoff for last cohort was 86 but not sure

Hello! 4/5 is really good. I was told by Elizabeth that this was "average" so you could redo the essay to see if you could do better. But honestly, I would focus on your TEAS. The cutoff for cohort 59 was around an 85 or 86. Always go for as high as you can, but if you were to bring up your TEAS score to at least an 87 or higher, you should be ok. The cutoff will fluctuate with each cohort, so keep that in mind. ( hypothetically if everyone applying to this cohort has lower scores, it will be "easier" to get in, whereas if many students are applying with really high scores, the cutoff will go up as well.) Hope this helps!

I retook my TEAS and did a little better. I'm super excited. I'm so glad I took the TEAS early. I've been at the coffee shop so much it's like I live there. So nice to finally relax a little. Does anyone have any other tips for tackling the essay? I'm going to talk to the people in the center and see if that helps.

Hey! great job on doing better! The best thing you can do to best prepare for the essay is to go to the writing center and knowing in your heart, why you want to be a nurse, as well as your future goals. I found writing a 2 page essay every day and timing myself like the real essay will be is the best thing to not only calm your nerves but really learn about yourself.
