Hello everyone!

About the article: I have read so many forums where people are freaking out and think poorly of themselves based on their grades, situation, etc. Check it out for a mental confidence booster! My name is Dusty, and I'm starting this topic because I haven't seen any conversations started for Cohort 60 starting October 10, 2019. If I missed a thread already made, please let me know so I can hop over to that one. If not, then please introduce yourself so we can all get to know and help each other out! Look forward to meeting you all :)

I looked up past prompts and have been writing/practicing but didn’t go to the writing center. Do they have any special info or tips that help for the essay or are they there to proofread and edit your drafts?

They give you the past prompts that they have used, and they do re-use the prompts. The probability of you getting a prompt you have seen before is quite high. As far as tips, they did offer quite a few tips to me. I went and saw John at the Spectrum Campus and he was very helpful when it came to developing my writing, making it more powerful and organized. I thought I was already a good writer, but he was always able to find areas I could improve on. I 100% recommend going in with drafts you wrote and have him check them out for you.

My prompt was nothing to do with nursing but about past experiences and what I learned from them. I was preparing for the nursing questions so I tied nursing into it but the question itself had nothing to do with nursing. Just a heads up! A lot of the people I talked to in my testing group had nursing related questions.. not me though!

Thank you for the info! I will try to get to the writing center.

This process is intense but then after the stress of the test & essay, the waiting is brutal!

Good luck to you all!

Hey you guys! Hope all is well! I wanted to get your guys' feedback/opinions. Do you think that because there are approximately 200 people applying for this cohort that the overall total points to get in will go up? Or, do you think that they will be about the same as the last cohort (appx. 86 total points to get in). Let me know what you guys are thinking! I think it might be harder to get in because so many applied; but we shall see.

The cutoff percentage has been going up and up and Elizabeth specifically mentioned this the last time I saw her. If you think about it, statistically the percentage is likely to increase due to the increased number of people applying. But IMO every cohort only has so many "outstanding" students in terms of GPA and TEAS scores. In my AP and Micro classes there were a few of these and I'm pretty sure they're going to get in. But that's it, there's only a handful. I'm guessing that most of the 200ish applicants are re-applying from previous cohorts. I'll be honest, I feel for those who are reapplying. If they didn't make the 88-89 point cutoff, how are they going to do it now? It's really hard to increase your score at this point in the process. Those people who have high GPA's and TEAS are probably going to do well on the essay too.

Im trying not to overthink it. I feel excited about the upcoming essay and for better or worse I really just want to get it over with. I hope everyone's been prepping and is ready! Good luck everyone!

I hope everybody's essays and exams went well! How long does it take to hear back regarding acceptance/rejection? I know the timeline they gave in the forum said 1.5 months, but I saw 4 weeks somewhere else. Do we get notified through our SOAR portals?

You receive an email informing you to check your SOAR portal to see if you have been accepted or rejected.

I did the essay last Thursday & Elizabeth said she thinks the acceptance/rejection email will be sent early July. It really just depends on how long it takes to get all of the essays scored. It will feel like forever if you think about it too much... try to stay busy and not think about it!!! I wish they just sent the Info in an email! Just do we knew right away & could get the info quickly!!!! ???

She said that to us as well. That it'll probably be done by early July. I'm incredibly excited. It's just around the corner and all these months of hard work are finally paying off.

When I saw my essay prompt I was literally jumping up and down inside. It was exactly one of the prompts I had prepared for! Im not going to jinx it but this wait is making me super anxious.

*Thanks, Dustin, for the invite.*

Hey, all!

Is this waiting game driving anyone else besides me batty?!?!

Hoping we get our results this week or next at the latest ?

I called last week asking about access to my essay score and they said I could access it after they send out acceptance/rejections next week(so that’s now this week) I believe I called last Wednesday.

? I'm thrilled and scared at the same time.

Thanks for the heads-up. Everytime i check my email I get nervous.

The wait is over! Congratulations to all accepted, can’t wait to start in the fall!!
