National University - San Diego Cohort 60 Oct 2019
She said that to us as well. That it'll probably be done by early July. I'm incredibly excited. It's just around the corner and all these months of hard work are finally paying off. When I saw my essay prompt I was literally jumping up and down inside. It was exactly one of the prompts I had prepared for! Im not going to jinx it but this wait is making me super anxious.

The cutoff percentage has been going up and up and Elizabeth specifically mentioned this the last time I saw her. If you think about it, statistically the percentage is likely to increase due to the increased number of people applying. But IMO every cohort only has so many "outstanding" students in terms of GPA and TEAS scores. In my AP and Micro classes there were a few of these and I'm pretty sure they're going to get in. But that's it, there's only a handful. I'm guessing that most of the 200ish applicants are re-applying from previous cohorts. I'll be honest, I feel for those who are reapplying. If they didn't make the 88-89 point cutoff, how are they going to do it now? It's really hard to increase your score at this point in the process. Those people who have high GPA's and TEAS are probably going to do well on the essay too. Im trying not to overthink it. I feel excited about the upcoming essay and for better or worse I really just want to get it over with. I hope everyone's been prepping and is ready! Good luck everyone!

I retook my TEAS and did a little better. I'm super excited. I'm so glad I took the TEAS early. I've been at the coffee shop so much it's like I live there. So nice to finally relax a little. Does anyone have any other tips for tackling the essay? I'm going to talk to the people in the center and see if that helps.

This is my thinking as well. I'm going to focus on the writing/essay portion of the admission process once I've retaken the TEAS. I'm approaching this with the viewpoint that I already have 92.5% of the possible TEAS points- another couple of percentage points isn't going to really impact my score. Over the last week or so I've started to shift my focus over to the essay. Part of my preparation has been to randomly pick a prompt and generate a mental bullet point of how the essay would flow. I'll eventually start writing (or rough drafting) them but for now this has been really helpful. I've spoken with other classmates and some are handling it differently as they're solely focused on their TEAS score. I think every portion of the admission process is vital and needs the proper attention. You definitely don't want to neglect the essay in lieu of something else.

Hi everybody, I'm also applying to Cohort 60. Right now I'm reviewing my lecture notes and will be taking the TEAS again in a couple of weeks. My first score was 92.5% but I think I know what I did wrong so hopefully I can improve it. I think it's great we can bounce ideas off each other. Hopefully we can all get through this!

Should you buy new or used books for your program?
I've seen versions with and without the additional material and it seems like it's just a rationale to raise prices on textbooks. You need to take everything with a grain of salt as what I find meaningless might seem useful to you. I always buy used/2nd hand copies of books now.
