National University San Diego

Has anyone had any luck with applying at National University for their nursing program? I applied back in Oct 06 and have been waiting to hear from them. They are supposed to notify in 3 months. I have called and called and written email upon emails with no response really. :banghead: Please, if anyone has applied and received some sort of letter, I would greatly appreciate your reply.

Thanks

I signed up for the BLS for healthcare providers through palomar (through the pph website). You just need to get the card I believe. I don't think you need the online test. The school just asks for a copy of your card. My class is on May 28th so I'll let you know what I get.

You wont have to "accept" until you get the invite to the orientation. Then they ask you to accept or decline via email when they send out the info for orientation. No prob, keep asking if you have questions!

Thank you so much for the info! I just got an email asking me to accept my invitation to orientation, so now that's all set. I am starting the immunization and background check process, and I will sign up for the CPR class soon too. So much to do, but there seems to be enough time to get it all done, so that's good. Good luck in your CPR class and thanks again for your help! :)

Thanks Elisbrasilia. It's good to know that there are others that have the same life situation. It will be hard but it's gonna be all worth it. What area do you live in (if you dont mind me asking...) and where are you gonna do your CPR?

Hey Bubbles,

I live in Chula Vista. What about you?

I found this awesome website on BLS Healthcare Provider CPR/AED classes. They offer AHA classes (only) all offer San Diego. You can also do the reading/test part of the class online and then go to one of their facilities to do the hands on! The website is GetStarCPR. I still want to email the nursing department just to make sure it is the right class.

Hey Elis

I live in Carmel Mountain/Rancho Penasquitos. I'm glad I dont live far from the RB campus :)

I just schedule my appointment to get my physical and vaccines done :) It's so exciting to get this whole ball rolling.

Let me know what the school says about the CPR class u looked into.

Are you going to be working at all once you start the program?

Elis,

I actually checked out the website u mentioned and looks like that's exatly what we need... so I signed up for a class before they fill up.

Hey Bubbles,

yeah that's super you live close to Rancho Bernardo. I will be driving way up north for at least 30 minutes :uhoh3:.

I am glad you found the Star CPR website helpful :) When are you taking the class? Is it the BLS Healthcare Provider CPR/AED?

I have decided to do the background check and physical exam/immunization now, but I will wait until July to schedule the BLS class. It is valid for only two years! So, if I take it in July or August I won't have to renew it before school ends. Does it make sense? Plus it is only a day class, and we can have the card same day!

Anyway, I will let you know if I have more info about the orientation packets.

God bless you, and good night!

Bubbles,

I just emailed them about the class. As soon as I know something I will tell you.

And, no, I am not planing on working. I work a lot already in my home :D Two kids, a husband, and nursing school are enough mental and emotional strain for me!!!

What do you think? Will you want to work?

Hey Elis,

I already scheduled the BLS class for May 26th in Mira Mesa. I just wanna get everything out of my way asap :) Im going in for my physical this coming Tuesday as well. I just have so much going on. I just had the baby... I need to change my last name EVERYWHERE (never did it after I got married hehe) and then getting ready for school. So I need to be on top of everything right now.

I don't WANT to work but unfortunately that's not an option for me. I will cut most of my hours though but I need to work a little to keep my benefits going. I want to keep work hours as minimal as possible but it doesn't look so good ... bills bills bills...

Well I hope you have a good weekend... and a wonderful Mother's Day :)

Happy Mother's Day to you too, Bubbles!

The nursing department replied my email. They said as long as the class is for healthcare providers (CPR/AED), the card is issued by American Heart Association, and it is not an online course, we should be fine :) I will definitely scheduled my class with StarCPR. I saw on their website the card they issue, and it is from AHA.

That is great you will have a lot done now! Changing name on all documents sounds overwhelming!

And, you should be able to work some while in nursing school. You are very lucky for having your mom around, and only ONE baby!!!! I am sure you don't know it :lol2:

Have a great weekend!

Hello all!

I too am starting the nursing program in October 2010! I am so excited :-) and somewhat nervous!

I have some questions for people who are currently IN the program or who have FINISHED it:

For those of you who are in it:

1. How often do you have clinicals/labs on the weekends (including Friday)?

2. What time of the day are clinicals usually?

3. I hear the program is intense, but how intense really? Obviously it is manageable...

4. Has the program interfered much with your relationships?

5. please tell me anything else! just answer any questions that you had before you started

For those of you who have finished the program:

1. Did you get a job upon graduating?

2. How difficult was it to get a job?

3. Do most people have luck with finding jobs right after graduating?

Thanks so much everyone!! :-)

I also would like to ask those in the program some questions:

1. How do you like the program?

2. If you could decide between other programs, would you still go to NU?

3. How much do you recommend it?

Thank you very much!

I had originally written a long response, however, I will just stay quiet with my negative thoughts.

Opportunities are what you make of them.
