Has anyone had any luck with applying at National University for their nursing program? I applied back in Oct 06 and have been waiting to hear from them. They are supposed to notify in 3 months. I have called and called and written email upon emails with no response really. Please, if anyone has applied and received some sort of letter, I would greatly appreciate your reply.
Thanks
Prettyinpink: Thanks for sharing :) Glad to hear that about Mercy!!
I really hope this makes everyone feel better!! I have not heard anything negative about NU students at all! In fact, like prettyinpink stated, we are seen as the most knowledgeable! Enjoy the journey and congrats to all who got accepted! If you didn't, don't give up!!
Hi Happymommy3,I thought you might have three kids seeing as your screen name is happymommy3:) My kids are 9, 4, and 3 and they all keep me really busy! How old are yours? I have a feeling by the time we graduate things should be a little better in terms of getting a job. I agree with Prettyinpink75 in that as long as you work hard, get good grades and are passionate about it, you will find a job eventually. In completing my pre-reqs, I learned that there are A Lot of people that are choosing to go to nursing school because they are currently in a career that has been hit hard by this bad economy. There is nothing wrong with wanting a change, but I believe there is a certain passion that comes along with the desire to be a nurse, and I'm sure prospective employers can see that. Going to interviews and showing you have what it takes to be a nurse should help a little! (I hope) I have a friend who is a nurse in Texas and she said that National is a great program (everyone has their own opinion of course) it will also be a plus that we will graduate with a BSN. A few years ago a lot of people said that wether you had an RN or BSN didn't really matter, but now that so many people want to become nurses its a little more competitive out there, hopefully the BSN will be a plus on our side.
Hi kamsmom30~
Mine kids are 9,7, and 2--so I know what you mean when you say they keep you busy! I guess we are in the same boat with juggling school and little ones. I'm sure we can do it though!
I've also heard that National is a great program, so I was surprised to hear some of the negative comments about it. But I definitely want honest feedback, so it is good to know what to watch out for and what to be aware of. I'm really looking forward to starting the program and I agree that the job market should be looking up by the time we graduate. Hopefully the timing will be just right for RN jobs. See ya soon! :)
Thanks for everyones replies about the program and all the advice =] I was really exciting about NU and then I had seen the not so positive post the day after I received my acceptance letter so it kind of made me a little dissappointed. I agree that if you are dedicated and have a passion to be a nurse that you will find a job eventually. I am going to be starting in the October cohort so I look forward to seeing others there!
Hi tutubalu~
Conratulations on being accepted!!! I look forward to meeting you in October! I felt the same way you did when I got my acceptance letter... I was so happy to get accepted, and then I read all of the negative comments and was disappointed. I am grateful for the info though, because I want to know what I'm getting myself into before I start. I'm super happy to see all of the positive comments--they made me feel a lot better and I'm excited all over again now! Congrats again and I'll see you in October! :)
Thank you prettyinpink and twillight_saturn for all of your positive feedback--I feel a lot better now and I can't wait to start the program!
Thank you also to sooperdooper, sd bookworm, and sdwannabe1, for your honest comments on your experiences with National. I definitely want to know what to expect, both positive and negative. But, in the end, National is my only option, so I'm happy to have been accepted.
Good luck to everyone in your future as an RN. I hope this economy improves soon and that everyone finds a job quickly! :)
Hello everyone!!
I have terrific news! The head of the department sent us an email today regarding externships at NU. The externship as some of you may know is a course. She needs to write the course, send it to the NU approval committee, then submit it to BRN for approval! She believes that this will happen by this summer!! So much for us being the only one's without an externship!!! Hooray!!!
how soon after your acceptence letter do you get it?
On your acceptance letter is the name of someone you can email for an immunization packet early. You won't get your orientation paperwork until about a month or so before your orientation. I just got mine yesterday and my orientation is June 4th for the July start. If there is not a name on your letter, PM me and I'll email you the packet so you can get started
