Has anyone had any luck with applying at National University for their nursing program? I applied back in Oct 06 and have been waiting to hear from them. They are supposed to notify in 3 months. I have called and called and written email upon emails with no response really. :banghead: Please, if anyone has applied and received some sort of letter, I would greatly appreciate your reply.

Thanks

Have you graduated yet? If you have, do you currently have a nursing job?

do you know any recent grads of the National nursing program? If so, did they have any luck getting jobs right off the bat? what information do you have on this?

thanks!

Hi happymommy3,

I didn't get an email saying there was a post! It was great meeting you too!

I'm going to send you a message. :D

Hi Bubbles!

I think we are in similar boats...I just had a baby in March as well and I am nervous about starting such a time consuming program but hopefully it goes fast and I know it will be worth it in the future =] Did you grow up in PQ? I went to Mt. Carmel...Was it hard to extend your start date? We might be moving in October so I don't know if it would be better to wait and start the next cohort so things aren't so hectic.

So at the StarCPR website those classes are okay as long as it is AHA?

I did my course through them and there were no problems, so I did my ACLS with them as well. The instructor was very nice and helpful. They will work with you until you get it.

Good Luck with everything.

Hi Tutubalu!

Well congrats on the baby!!! Isn't it just the most wonderful thing in the world??? What day in March? My son was born March 3rd!

I am so nervous. It's gonna be a hand full but I'm sure it will all be ok. I was actually born in Germany. I've only lived here for about 9 years now. I didn't attend highshool here because I was already 17. So I got my GED... wasted my time at Maric College (got my medical assistant) and here I am now, 26 and trying to make a better living :)

Extending the start date was not that hard. There is a form in the orientation package. Once you submit it they'll let you know if it's been approved. It would be very nice to have someone in the same boot in class but if you feel you need to take another 3 month... why not? It should be pretty simple.

The StarCPR got exactly what we need for the program. It's the BLS Healthcare Provider CPR/AED class. I went to the one in Mira Mesa... it was quick and easy, just 4 hours. They even give you your CPR card the day of the class if you paid online.

Do you still live around PQ?

How was the ACLS certification? How difficult? I'm in leadership right now and want to get ACLS certified toward the end of the program.

I'm interested in attending National University.... The only thing I am wondering about is the cost? Whats the cost of the program? Are you paying out pocket or will financial aid cover the whole program.

I studied about a month before I went and took the class. I really liked this website to study. EKG, ACLS, BLS, Hemodynamics Education Analysis | richACLS

It does cost, but you can look at the free trial and see if it would be helpful to you. There are flashcards and interactive applets that help you remember the algorithms.

I also really liked Six Second ECG Simulator . It's a moving EKG flashcard. It really helped on recognizing the different rhythms.

The written test was a little difficult, so you do need to study the study guide (provided when you register for the class), but the megacode scenario wasn't bad. We got to be in rotating roles and if you needed extra help, the instructor would work with you.

All-in-all, it wasn't too difficult. The problem is that it's easy to forget, since I'm not using it.

Best of Luck!
