National University (San Diego) Cohort 56: October 2018

Published

Greetings! Wondering if there are others who will be applying/have applied for Cohort 56, which would begin October 2018!

If anyone is out there, hopefully this thread will a serve as a place to ask questions, provide insight/advice, vent, celebrate, wallow, etc. :)

For my situation, my prereq's are completed, and have recently completed the TEAS. I submitted the application (which was crazy quick and easy to my surprise), and am just waiting for a date to take my proctored essay.

Hope to speak with fellow applicants of cohort 56 soon!

Essay question:

does anyone know if you can carry over a previous essay score? I applied for cohort 55 but didn't get accepted. However I scored 5/5 on the essay.

A friend currently in cohort 53 suggested I ask if it's possible to carry that essay score over to my application for cohort 56. I feel pretty good about the essay I wrote last week but would love to carry over that 5/5 score.

Hi,

That is a great score!! And yes you can carry over your essay score. But you have to let them know the day of the test to keep your score. Hope this helps! :)

Thanks RN.Maria.

Appreciate the kind words and giving me some hope. I'm waiting to hear back from the nursing department. Fingers crossed.

Am I the only one that is going to die from the anticipation? I am counting days at this point and I know that we won't hear back until about 2-4 weeks from now, but I can help but kind of stress out.

I'm there with you! We were told we would have our letters by the second week in June for Fresno! I'm counting down the days as well!

You are not alone! The wait is stressful!

You are in good company. We're all anxiously waiting.

While we wait for our decisions to come in (and to get our mind off of it for a bit haha), might I ask what are everyone's plans with working and the nursing program if you guys were to get accepted? I've heard (from numerous people) that it is a stressful routine doing both, but I wanted to hear some opinions and thoughts about it!

marl0n I have also heard the same thing. I do not plan on working at all until I am finished with the program. I know that is not always an option for people. I remember in the orientation they do not recommend you work more than like 8 hours per week?

I am actually working 3 jobs at the moment in order to save up since the program starts in October. And then 2 jobs once the program starts. I basically have no choice, I need the money. I am very lucky that my jobs are VERY flexible and I work in the evenings where everything is very slow, so I have time to do homework. For example this semester I was SUPER busy working and during my evening job (not overnight) I just studied and did homework. Once the program starts I will probably work the first 3 weeks to gauge how the workload is and plan accordingly. By the way did anyone get the message of the tuition? Its getting more expensive :'(

I did get that message about tuition. Seems to always be the case with any university. You are quite the busy person! I'm sure you will find a great balance between work and school once it starts. I just have to balance kids! I'm not sure which one is more difficult :)

I got it today. I was like wow when will it go down and not up.

I am here trying to do the same as well and then figure it out after. Don't over do it when you start the program.
