Greetings! Wondering if there are others who will be applying/have applied for Cohort 56, which would begin October 2018!
If anyone is out there, hopefully this thread will a serve as a place to ask questions, provide insight/advice, vent, celebrate, wallow, etc. :)
For my situation, my prereq's are completed, and have recently completed the TEAS. I submitted the application (which was crazy quick and easy to my surprise), and am just waiting for a date to take my proctored essay.
Hope to speak with fellow applicants of cohort 56 soon!

Hi everyone!Congrats to those who where picked for the program. I have a few questions that perhaps you guys can help me with.
1) I do not qualify for financial aide so I would have to pay out of pocket/loans..they informed me its 50 thousand for the program (BSN) ....how the heck are you guys paying for this?
2) I have not applied yet to NIU...they told me I had to first take a pre-req that I am missing BST 322 is this stats class hard? I have taken stats at a community college so I am familiar with stats just not the biomedical one NIU requires. They told me it's only a 4 week class??
3) I keep going back and forth about applying to Nationa, this is my second year being denied to community colleges for the ADN program. I think it is because of my teas score and I cannot retake it again because they allow only two tries. I have a 78 percent on my teas..I'm so frustrated with this whole situation...I feel this is my only route going private. I am nervous about going to a private school since I had a bad experience with my surgical tech program through a private school. Any feedback would help..thank you all for letting me vent:)
I started looking into National because I had also been denied twice from two community colleges. I'm planning on getting loans and going to apply to any scholarship I can find as well. The BST class wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be and I loved that it was an online class. As for the TEAS you can take it as many times as you want at other places, but I think National only lets you take it with them 3 times.

National 100 percent does not have a restriction on TEAS attempts from other campuses. I for example, took it multiple times at Fresno State, and submitted my highest score. Each campus has their own restrictions. Fresno state allows 9 attempts at their campus, if you exceed that amount, you can find somewhere else to take it. Just FYI :)
It's ridiculous the competition at a community college.. I'm over it lol the only way they told me I could "possibly " get into nursing school is if I go for LVN and than bridge into RN school.. in that case I figured I can go to National and complete the program in half the time it would take me the other route. I'm just hoping I can get a better score on that Teas.. I've taken it 3x and so far I've reached a 78 .. im sure I can go higher.
Question, has anyone attended there pre-nursing forum at Rancho Bernardo?? I decided to sign up for one to get more insight of the program. Just curious if anyone's attended one and is it worth it???

I went to the pre-nursing forum in rancho Bernardo and yes it is worth it lots of information and it is a requirement to attend one if you are planning on applying to the National nursing program.
Here are some sample essay prompts that have been used in the past.* Compare and contrast nursing as a science and as an art.
*Describe a time you had to use interpersonal communication to work through a difficult work situation.
*What are your strengths and weaknesses?
*The nursing program is very rigorous, what would you do to ensure your success?
*Why do you want to be a nurse?
*What skills or attributes set you apart from the rest, and how will these help you while in nursing school or in your nursing career.

Thanks so much for the info! I'm applying for the LVN to BSN cohort 11 in August - since it's once a year the competition is fierce! So if I don't get into that cohort I'm applying for the generic program in January :)

Hi,
Thanks for the response.. I didn't know you can take it online the BST. They did not mention that to me when I went in there satellite office to get BSN info. That's great!!! I wish the cost wasn't so expensive for that class.. 1,600 something like that they told me.
That is one great thing about NU the Teas.. although I cringe at the Teas. Do you guys know if you have to pay for the cost all up front? Or is it paid in payments ? I'm assuming you pay the whole amount before you start?
I have already a deferment for my Surgical Tech program.. it was expensive so I'm going to see if I even qualify for another loan. Knowing it's a 22 month program is what gets me motivated to apply. I just need to take the BST course first.
