Greetings! Wondering if there are others who will be applying/have applied for Cohort 56, which would begin October 2018!
If anyone is out there, hopefully this thread will a serve as a place to ask questions, provide insight/advice, vent, celebrate, wallow, etc. :)
For my situation, my prereq's are completed, and have recently completed the TEAS. I submitted the application (which was crazy quick and easy to my surprise), and am just waiting for a date to take my proctored essay.
Hope to speak with fellow applicants of cohort 56 soon!

Thank you so much! I didn't feel super confident about the essay, I was typing until the last second. Lol. But to prepare I made two appointments with the writing center to get tips from them (I recommend Nancy) and what they said was to be concise, have good grammar, and show them what makes you different and unique from everyone else. I used my background in the Navy as well as my multicultural background, being bilingual, and other things like that to answer the prompt. I wrote an essay at home before hand, so no matter what prompt you get you can still use things from the essay you've already prepared. Hope that helps!
Thank you! I just started with the writing center so I'm hoping it helps!
Hi everyone!
Congrats to those who where picked for the program. I have a few questions that perhaps you guys can help me with.
1) I do not qualify for financial aide so I would have to pay out of pocket/loans..they informed me its 50 thousand for the program (BSN) ....how the heck are you guys paying for this?
2) I have not applied yet to NIU...they told me I had to first take a pre-req that I am missing BST 322 is this stats class hard? I have taken stats at a community college so I am familiar with stats just not the biomedical one NIU requires. They told me it's only a 4 week class??
3) I keep going back and forth about applying to Nationa, this is my second year being denied to community colleges for the ADN program. I think it is because of my teas score and I cannot retake it again because they allow only two tries. I have a 78 percent on my teas..I'm so frustrated with this whole situation...I feel this is my only route going private. I am nervous about going to a private school since I had a bad experience with my surgical tech program through a private school. Any feedback would help..thank you all for letting me vent:)

1.) I too will not receive any financial aid. I got accepted into the Fresno program that starts in October, and we just got our "estimates" that shows 44k. We are taking out half of the amount through a 2nd on our house, and the other half I am taking out student loans for. The good thing is you can defer until 6 months after you graduate!
2.) I HATE math! BST 322 was fairly easy to me, and I was able to take it online! Only 4 weeks long, online, with 1 check in a week, and not that much home work.
3.) One of the greatest points of applying to NU was the fact that you can take the TEAS however many times you want, or can afford. I ended up taking it 7, yes 7 times, until I FINALLY got a 90. They have no time restrictions for days/weeks in between tests nor do they have attempts. I recommend NU to everyone I talk to! BSN is much better than ADN and its a 22 month program.
