National university cohort 47

Published

Hello everyone!

I recently applied to the pb bsn program at national university- san diego location. I wanted to meet other potential nursing students who applied or are applying to this cohort. I was wondering what some of you scored on your teas, GPA, are you pb or generic entry etc. I can't wait to meet you all!! :)

J_dozier, so I tried to calculate my GPA and I think I have a 3.45 :/ I transferred all but micro and biostats and the credits are different from my school so I'm not sure about it. I'm taking my Teas this Thursday. Aaaaaah I am a nervous wreck too! I hope you do well.

Do you know your GPA?

I also applied to cohort 47! My math and science GPA is a 3.45. I have not taken the TEAS yet. My GPA is pretty average, so i'm hoping to do well on the TEAS. I AM A NERVOUS WRECK. I'm not too worried about the essay.

When do you go for essay and teas?

Hi there, I'll be applying for the generic entry as well. I had no idea they were combining. My GPA is a 3.8 and I'm waiting to take the TEAS with NU. Does anyone know when that will be?

When do you go for your teas and essay?

Hello, I have a question I'm interested in this program but no one will tell me how much the bsn program is, how much is the program?

An instructor told me 60,000 but I do not believe her

That sounds correct. I do not know the exact amount but I hear 56K a while back so it could have gone a little up.

Dozier,

Sooooooo....? How did it go? I was thinking of you this morning. I hope it went well :)

Hi! I also applied to this cohort and took my TEAS and essay yesterday at NU. I'm not sure how to calculate my science GPA, I have all A's and one B. I received an 80.7% on my TEAS and I feel really good about my essay. Good luck to everyone!

Any tips on the Essay? Is it a personal topic?

Hi there! I am in a previous NU cohort, if you look back on some of the other cohort threads you can find a lot of info and some of the prompts they use for the essays, many of us shared ours in there.

They do combine the ABSN and first time BSN students, they do that by only calculating your prerequisite GPA classes, which everyone takes in order to get in. You all go into it equally. I found that having both previous bachelor students and first time students makes the cohort much more diverse and interesting.

As far as the costs go, the program is 22 months and generally the cost per month is about $1600 dollars, this does not include clinical fees and lab fees which are about $700. So for an 8 week clinical class (the majority of your courses) you will pay about $3500. You will have two online classes with no fee and then books and uniforms etc. We had a "orientation fee" that was $3,000, which included our ATI materials and uniforms, but I have heard they have done away with it. I am not sure why they wouldn't tell you the price. They sent me a sheet with all the costs when i asked. Of course they might change all of this, so what i say could be totally wrong. As far as books go, you can get most books second hand from older students or rent them. I would rent if you can, trust me you will never open them again after the class. I hope that answers some of your questions!

Good luck!

Onelanalove, thank you so much. I tried to dig under any thread I found from NU but did not find much on the essay. You are right things do change very quickly, reminds me of military policy lol

Thank you for this message. Do you have any input on the average point acceptance from previous cohorts? I heard 81.

Would you share with us your GPA and teas score please?

I think we are all just nervous wrecks as you can probably remember.

Thanks a lot.

It went well! The essay went by so quick! I'm hoping I did good. But I will keep the faith lol the essay is nursing related. Unfortunately, I can't tell you the prompt but not everyone gets the same prompt anyway. Just remember to stay calm during to make it easier to gather your thoughts.

So good to hear it went well, I think we have a good chance honestly. I read the threads for cohort 45 and 46 and we the students accepted have numbers a bit lower than ours.

I figured we can't share the prompt but is it personal? like in the forum I went to the guy said we would have to state why we are better candidates than the person sitting next to us.... I plan on using my best judgement, I have so much passion about Nursing and the Medical field I can't imagine not having something to write about. However, my nerves can mess with my though organization skills :(
