Roll call, who's applying to NU San Diego Cohort 54?

I started my journey 6 months ago. Completing Microbiology this month, then TEAS prep and proctored essay practice. GPA will likely between 3.4-3.7 so going to work hard for a strong TEAS result. Would love to start to get to know some of our fellow future nurses.

Hello, I was accepted today, the update is in SOAR. Good luck to you all and see you in April for those that get in. I would like to make a meet and greet before nursing school starts for those that got in. I'll make the thread today and we can meet at a Starbucks or something to get to know each other before our program starts. -John

I didn't get in. I'm going to try again for 55 hopefully next time around I'll get a higher TEAS score. I still don't know what I got on the essay. It was nice chatting with you guys. To those that got accepted congratulations I wish you all the best! í ½í¸Š

You can call Elizabeth for your essay score.

I didn't get in either, airwicka89. I looked back and you posted your scores (TEAS 84.7 and 3.7 GPA).. I had similar scores (TEAS 82 and GPA 3.9). Let me know what she tells you. This must have been a pretty competitive cohort because nursing students that come into my ER for their clinicals had much lower scores and GPA than us. Good luck. I'll be going for 55, also.

Im going to contact her in about a week or 2 because im sure she will be getting bombarded with emails this week. In the meantime Im going to start restudying for the TEAS and doing practice essays again.

I'm guessing you guys scored a 3 or below on the essay. Your GPAs are very good and your teas scores are not bad. Neither of you made the waitlist ? I saw someone post on the fb page that the acceptance cutoff was 85.08 points and waitlist was around 84. I applied to cohort 53 and did not get in, retook one of my classes and will be applying to cohort 55. Don't give up! You will get there!

This is correct. With those GPAs and TEAS scores (which are very solid!), you would have to get at least a 3/5 on the essay or higher. That essay will really give you a huge push if you can write a really compelling one. Try to be creative with answering that question of "Why do I want to be a nurse?" Don't use the tattered old cliche"it's a calling" and "it's my dream" in your answer. Try to make yourself stand out, and put a twist on the theme; try to let your personality show a bit. Speak from experience! IDK, hope that helps.

Yes this is very helpful. Thank you

Hello all, I got accepted to cohort 54 yesterday via SOAR and e-mail!

Yes this is very helpful. Thank you

Airwick, just so you know, you with your scores, you would have needed at least 3.5 on your essay to pass the 84.8 threshold.

cmattiace, you would have needed 3.2/5 on your essay to pass the 84.8 threshold.

I did not get in...for the second time. :( I will be reapplying but not for the next cohort. I need to retake micro to raise my GPA because I have pretty good other scores. Congrats to everyone that got in!!!
