National University BSN Program

Published

the anticipation is killing me!! after working hard for 2 years i finally completed my application to national university for their Accelerated BSN program. i took the teas 5 just over a week ago and am expecting my acceptance/rejection letter during the first week of june. even though it is just 3 weeks away, it seems like a lifetime! if i am accepted i will be joining the october 2011 cohort. anyone else going to nu during this time?

I applied to cohort 29 and just found out that I was accepted on Oct 7th. It takes forever. Good luck!!!

I applied to cohort 30 and no word from anyone...I think I am going to take the TEAS at CSUSM to see what i get if I'm not happy with my score I will do it again until I get at least a 85%. It cost 50 bucks each time but I am hoping I will only have to take it once and then turn in my score when NU gives me my test date.

I've noticed that the status of my application switched from 'submitted' to 'final review' last night. Does anyone know how long it takes once that status appears to find out if we are accepted or denied? I'm on pins and needles here!!!! :hdvwl:

YAY!!!! Mine never said final review! It just went from submitted to accepted. Sounds like it will be soon lady!!!! SEE YOU SOON!!!!! :)

Oh yay---I'm hoping they tell us by the end of October! I wonder if we would have the same orientation?? I'm gonna stay positive and hope for the best (and enjoy the weekend) :lol2:

Did they send you your packet yet of class days, etc.? I think we'll be in school 2-3 days a week, right? (staying positive) :o

I'm looking forward to meeting all you gals in real life as BSN students! :yeah::nurse::redpinkhe

I haven't checked the mail the last couple days but I got an email saying that clinicals are twice a week 8-12 hours and that theory is either 9:30 to 1:30 or 5:30 to 10:30 either once or twice a week and occasionally saturdays. Orientation is 2 days Nov 30 and Dec 1st. I'll check my email and post what they sent in a bit. :)

On behalf of the Nursing Faculty, it is my pleasure to inform you of your acceptance into the Nursing Program at National University! Congratulations! You have chosen to pursue a wonderful profession. Below you will find essential information that you should attend to now in order to ensure a smooth progression in starting the nursing program.

Enrolling in Classes

Your Program Admission Notification (PAN), which is included in this packet, lists the nursing course sequence in which you are being enrolled. The Nursing Department will be responsible for enrolling you in all of your Nursing courses. Please note that these courses will not be added to your schedule until approximately 4-6 weeks prior to the start of your first class.

Please contact your NU admissions advisor so they may schedule you in any non-nursing courses which may be required for your degree plan. This is the person who assisted you with enrolling into the University. If you do not have an admissions advisor you may contact any National University academic center at 1(800) NAT-UNIV and request to meet with one.

Clinical Laboratory & Theory Course hours

All NSG pre-licensure courses theory sessions are held once or twice a week and clinicals are held twice a week with intermittent additional Saturday meetings. Theory is typically held on either Mondays or Wednesdays from either 9:00 am – 1:30 pm or 5:30 pm – 10:00 pm. Clinicals can be 8-12 hours in length and can be held any day Monday-Sunday. However, this may change at any time to meet the needs of clinical agencies and the course instructors. You will be notified of exact days and times for clinical sessions approximately one month prior to the start of each new nursing (NSG) classes.

Orientation

You will be required to attend a mandatory 2-day orientation which is scheduled for Wednesday, November 30th and Thursday, December 1st. This will take place at our Spectrum Business Park location (9388 Lightwave Avenue, San Diego, CA 92123) for the first day and our Rancho Bernardo location (16875 W. Bernardo Drive, San Diego, CA 92127) for the second day. This comprehensive orientation will include: information on photo IDs, preliminary testing, clinical placements, lab kits, uniform fittings, and meeting our faculty. You will receive an official Orientation Packet which will include specific information and all necessary paperwork via email in approximately two weeks.

*You will attend the orientation immediately prior to the start of NSG 403 Nursing Theories & Models. If you change the start date of your NSG 403 course from as it appears on the attached schedule you will automatically be moved to the corresponding orientation day.

Immunizations & Physical Examination

Nursing Students must provide immunization documentation to the Nursing Department before beginning any clinical nursing courses. Immunization records or laboratory reports are required to meet the immunization requirements. As you progress through the program, any updated immunization information (i.e. Tuberculosis – students are required either a PPD or chest x-ray every 12 months) must be submitted to the Nursing Department on or before the date it expires. A list of required immunizations, titled Documentation of Immunizations will be emailed to you in approximately two weeks. Please start working towards receiving the required immunizations after you receive the email because they may take a while to complete. An annual physical examination is also required and will need to be indicated on the Verification of Physical Exam form that is included in the Documentation of Immunizations packet. Failure to submit completed immunization and physical examination forms will preclude you from attending any clinical laboratory experiences. Clinical laboratory experiences begin in NSG 211 Health Assessment. For any questions regarding immunization information requirements please contact ------.

I didn't even see this at the bottom of the email but this is the class schedule for me I guess...

Hello! Is there anyone applying for the ABSN cohort 31 I believe, the application deadline is January 10, 2012. Just wanted to see if there were any fellow applicants that could start a thread with me

Hi, was just wondering if anyone on here have recently taken or are currently taking the prereqs through NU, San Diego for the BSN program willing to email me so I may ask a few questions. I meet with an advisor tomorrow but I want to know what I should look out for or ask about. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

Hi Everyone!

I just applied for the nursing program in Spring for NU (LA) and was wondering for those who got accepted, what were your GPAs and TEAS V scores? Also, what did you have to write about for your essays? Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I am new to this site but have been working towards getting accepted into NU (RB campus). I applied for the April 2012 cohort and results will be in around mid/end of January.

To be blunt, I know I didn't score well enough on the TEAS V to get into the program (I got a 70.6%-on my results it says the average score was a 70% for this version). The test was TOUGH. Surprisingly, I aced the Math sections but didn't do so well in the Life Sciences section. My grades for my core classes break down to:

A/P1: C

A/P1 Lab: C

A/P2: B

A/P2 Lab: B

Micro: B

Micro Lab: B

BioStats: A-

I think I did OK on the proctored essay as I am a fairly decent writer, and I didn't re-attempt any core classes, so I'm not sure where I will end up.

I may just end up re-taking the TEAS to bump my score up. Ideally I'd like to get an 80% or better...any other advice you can offer me would be incredibly helpful!!

Thank you!
