Hi Everyone:
I am currently in the process of trying to get into national university's ABSN program for the fall 2009 at L.A location, anyone who has gotten into the program (both L.A and S.D) before or still in the process of applying, I would really appreciate any feedback from all of you guys about your general status (overall GPA, TEAS, etc) or your insight about this program overall. I feel like nowadays every nursing program becomes a lot more competitive than before, even for the private schools. So any feedback or comment would be very welcome from all of you guys, Thank you.
Hi Michelle,I've got all my books as well & have already started w/ the readings. The only book I didn't get was Mosby's (optional book), but I'm still debating if I should get it or not. If I'm not mistaken, we pay our tuition via SOAR & I think we're able to start paying on October 26?
Hello,
I was wondering if you could tell me what your schedule is for lecture and for clinical? How many days a week are both? Is it possible to get early afternoon lecture and clinical times for the entire program?
Thank you!
Elljay
yeah, Clinical sites. and your overall experience with NU. I'm going in this Friday to meet with an advisor. I'm kind of eager to start. I dont have patience with the long wait list at Community Colleges and I'm not to fond of Kaplan college.. So what do you think?
I have had a very good experience so far with National. If you are concerned with the outcome of the program, look up their NCLEX-RN statistics on the Board of Nursing website. The clinical sites change monthly, the schedule is usually given 6 weeks in advance. Our clinical sites change too! They are using many of our local hospitals.
Can I ask you a few questions about NU's program? How many courses do you take at a time? Are the clinicals and theory done at the same time? How do you like the program? What is the point system NU uses?
Hi there! 1 class at a time, very quick pace, 22 month program. I start in 2 weeks. classes with both clinical and theory are taken in the same time period. Are you asking about point system for entry to the program? 50% grades, 30% teas, 20% essay.

Yes it is 50% grades, but if you finish all the pre-reqs and have a 2.75 GPA then you are entered into the point ranking system. The point ranking system then gives you a score out of 100. 50 points which can come from your grades for the big pre-reqs: A&P 1 and 2, the labs for A&P 1 and 2, Microbiology, Microbiology lab, and biomedical stats. It takes into account # of attempts to get a C or higher and then the letter grade you got versus the number of units for that class.
