Nassau Community College

U.S.A. New York

Hi, all,

I applied to Nassau Community College today for the Spring 2010 semester. I understand that the Spring class is much smaller than the Fall semester. Would anyone mind sharing -- I applied with a 3.75 and all pre-reqs done. Anyone out there get in to the January class in the past with a comparable GPA? I understand that it's all according to the pool of GPA's they receive - 4.0's first, but I'm looking for a glimmer of hope.

Thanks!

I called the admissions office just now. The lady was telling me about the point system and how you do get an extra point if you live in Nassau County so now I am a little worried since I live in QUeens. I guess I Just have to wait it out.

That is interesting what you told me about childhood development....thats good to know thank you.

Hi dibbs and karananda:

Have been thinking of you ladies... wanted to know what you honestly think of the program thus far! I'm sure you guys are doing great! Congratulations again! I wanted to send you both a PM but haven't figured it out yet :0

I think you need to have 15 posts up before you can PM anyone. I had the same problem too and looked it up in the Help topics :)

A few more weeks and we should hopefully be getting acceptance letters!!!!!!!!!!

Today was the first day for change-of-program applications...so I made a special trip there to get mine in. Now it's time to wait.....:uhoh3:

We're getting close....should be getting letters soon....anyone here anything yet?

It is very hard to get in unless you are a Nassau County Resident (but not impossible). There was a girl in my A&P II class that lived a block away from the border and had an overall 4.0 gpa (not just prereq's) and did not get accepted. They will accept lower NC gpa's over out of county. She was ****** because she said that in none of the pre-nursing meetings that she had attended and meetings with advisors she was never told this. She took all her courses in a Nasau County and that still didn't help.

Best of Luck to you Kuklara511!!

P.S.- I find it funny that we can't write p i s s e d :)

Hey Jupiter! I Live in Queens....literally 6 blocks from the Nassau border. I am praying I get in. I do have a 4.0 which is a good sign now all I need is luck on my side. I don't have Micro finished yet or sociology so I am scared that too might hurt my chances but we'll see!

Hello,

I wanted to say good luck to you starting your nursing career! I'm a graduate from NCC. I wanted to give some hope to those who think their GPAs aren't competive. Compared to some of my other classmates I had one of the lower GPA of 3.7. I applied twice and was accepted the 2nd time into the spring class. As a new RN, I applied to only once position and landed it! So, NCC has a very reputable program. I currently work in a critical care unit and enjoy it. I'm in the process of pursing my BSN courtesy of the hospital I'm working in. NCCs program is extremely competitive and rigorous once you get in but all worth the hard work. Good Luck!

Glad luck girls... got my fingers crossed. The workload is insane once you get in so enjoy the wait.

Hey thanks for the good luck.

I called this morning and was told they would be sending out letters the end of the month...right now the wait is killing me.

I have kinda a bad feel though...one because I live in Queens and was told they usually accept Nassau County residents first.

I go have a 4.0 though but not all my prereqs completed.

I've finished English 1, ENglish 2, Psychology 1, Child Development (but don't think they accept that anymore as a pre-req, statistics, A&P1, and am doing A&P2 right now.

I really hope I get in though. If not I am just going to take Micro next semester and try again for the spring.

Instead of child development you have to take PSY216 Life span and development. Also intro to statistics and AHS202 Medical micro, although I am not sure which are prereq's that you need to take before starting the program, and which you can take during the program.
