Any one applying for Nursing at NCC for Fall 2018?
I heard there is a new Chair. Is this true? The day I was suppose to go they closed the school due to the storm. I just applied and praying to get in.
The new chair is Professor Buckley. She seems nice and willing to help. She ran the nursing information session that I went to last month.. Good luck.
Yes, They provide a calculator within the software.
Hello RN_hopeful, I took the TEAS this morning, I have my scores and want to calculate my points. For the levels of academic preparedness, Nassau follows ATI's numerical ranges, correct? For instance,on the last page of the score report, ATI says that Proficient: 58.7% to 77.3%, Advanced: 78.0% to 90.0%, Exemplary: 90.7 to 100.0.
Does Nassau go by the same ranges?
I only have 5 prerequisites classes completed with a 3.30 GPA (not counting the ones, I'm currently taking), teas were good.. if I calculated correctly my points average out to 89. My odds of getting in this coming up fall are probably not so good right? It's my first time applying. When I took the teas the instructor there said that Oct for next spring might be the last time they would be accepting for the 2-year program. Does anyone have any further information on this?
Hi all!
So glad a forum was made for the Fall 2018 program. I applied March 5th for the evening. My pre reqs are as followed:

General Psychology: B
Statistics: A
Lifespan and Human Development Psych: A
A&P 1: B+
A&P 2: A
Elective (history): A
Bio Medical Ethics: B
Medical Microbiology: In progress SP 18.
Only thing I need after MM is an art elective.
TEAS Proficient: 66% overall bad I know
Math: 65 (5 points)
English: 62 (5 points)
Reading: 80 (10 points)
10 points for being a Nassau resident
5 points for never being in a previous nursing program.
Overall Score: 138
The hospital I work at does clinical rotations on my unit for the evening NCC program and I met a really nice girl who is part of the "challenged" NCC Nursing students. She is a LPN and was able to challenge the program to not have to take NUR 101 which is Fundamentals.
I wish you all the best of luck and hopefully meet you all soon. Praying we all get accepted.
P.S:
My pathophysiology professor told me that NCC got approved from SUNY to start the BSN program. Not sure when just that they obtained approval to make it a four year program. His name is Dr. Spano and he was part of the "group" of people advocating to make it a four year program with the demand on BSN's and the law Andrew Couomo signed into effect "BSN in Ten"
