I havent been in front of the board and have worked in a plasma center for 8 months where there are no meds. When I go in front of the board of nursing is that when I will get the narcotic restrictions or is that up to your monitoring program? I want to leave this job and look for another in a few months but Im curious as to if I will have them. I was assuming I would have them when i first got into monitoring but I dont. I was diverting so Im guessing thats a big fat yes but I have just been a little confused since I dont have them now. Ive asked my case manager and havent heard anything.
Hey there. Did any of you have a board order for monitoring or did all of you get into monitoring before you went before the BON. I tried to get into monitoring back when I self reported in Feb 2016 but for some reason I did not get in. I filled out paper work, called and everything. So now I am going to a "conference settlement" with the BON in October-I just received my letter after 3 1/2 yrs! I am so worried that my contract will be worse since I am not already in a monitoring program. I have been working all of this time but I am not around narcotics . I did dialysis for 2 1/2 yrs and now I am in a LTC facility as an infection control nurse. The LTC is close to home, so I chose to start working there versus driving an hour and half away to a dialysis clinic. I live in very small town so there really wasn't a dialysis clinic close to me. If there ever was, I think I would go back because I really liked dialysis and they are recovery friendly.
Did any of you have your license suspended for a while?

I am just starting the process, so I am probably not much help. I did call the assistance program the day I was fired and got in ASAP. I only did this because I heard that helps when dealing with the board. I would make sure I have all of the documents of your sobriety (in pt, out of, AA meetings etc.) maybe even letters from managers, employees that work with you? I hope everything goes well for you!
@mississippiRN71 Its all going to be okay. I doubt if you will be suspended. I think you definitely want an attorney to argue the fact that you were not contacted for 3 years. Worse thing they could do if make you do monitoring. I don't believe they will suspend you due to the fact that you have been practicing for 3 years and at this point it makes them look stupid. You self reported like you were supposed to, you did your part. I really hope you don't even have to do monitoring because I think its ridiculous after all this time. If you have proof of treatment and can get your boss, coworkers, therapist, sponsor, or anyone else that may be able to give a character reference I would have that ready too. I honestly believe that at this point for you its all about whether or not you want to do monitoring. If you don't I would fight it if you have proof that you have been clean this whole time and they let you renew twice. I got into it immediately because I knew it was coming either way and I wanted to do anything I could to fix my mistakes. Im not even sure you would qualify for monitoring without a board order at this point. The board may also ask for an evaluation to determine if there is a substance abuse problem. I would just wait and see what they say, but I know its all going to be alright. Good Luck and keep us posted!

I just got my RMA, and mine is worded the same as yours. My case manager said mine was 1 yr on the phone, so I imagine yours is the same.

Went over my contract with INPRP case manager. I will have narc. Restrictions. I wonder why you didn’t get any? I would talk to your case manager. Maybe because you stated you didn’t work with them they left that out of your RMA?
