I havent been in front of the board and have worked in a plasma center for 8 months where there are no meds. When I go in front of the board of nursing is that when I will get the narcotic restrictions or is that up to your monitoring program? I want to leave this job and look for another in a few months but Im curious as to if I will have them. I was assuming I would have them when i first got into monitoring but I dont. I was diverting so Im guessing thats a big fat yes but I have just been a little confused since I dont have them now. Ive asked my case manager and havent heard anything.

My narc restriction is on my RMA, 6 months.
@Indiana RN my RMA says "participant does not have access to controlled substances" there is no time period. I can work around them now if I want as far as I know my case manager has said that in the past, I chose not to because I thought it was a bad idea. Now I am hearing at my nurse support group that when I go to board they will make me have narcotic restrictions for a time period. I thought IPRP had the say but now I am beginning to think otherwise. Just sucks because I pretty much gave myself the restriction and if I had already been in front of BON and gotten them, I would be done by now. BUT there is always DIALYSIS or ANYWHERE that will accept me with a restriction IDC I just want 12 hr shifts back so I can be home with my babies more :)
Did you start when it was ISNAP? I did and I know things are different with INPRP. I do know that, yes, you have to work with some sort of a narc restriction before you can complete INPRP. I know some people that have waited over 2 years to start their narc restriction.
And YES! 12 hour shifts are life!! ?
@Indiana RN no i started when it was already IPRP in early October.

Maybe that's why there are differences. When they changed over we were told our RMA would stay the same and I'm beginning to think that's a good thing!
@Indiana RN yeah its crazy bc every one has a different experience. Sometimes I wonder if I really did myself any favors by getting in the program early. I know I did the right thing but when I get frustrated with the long waiting process it does cross my mind that, dang...i could have been working wherever I wanted this whole time and then went in to the program after going to the board. (<----horrible idea lol) BUT Ill have a year under my belt by the time I renew in October...i need to work on being grateful instead of focusing on how much I hate my current schedule. Lol
Well one good thing is by getting in early it should not be available to the public. ( I think/hope) It does get easier. It will 2 years for me in October and I am JUST NOW feeling like a normal person! and narc restriction SUCKS bit that actually went really fast too!

Nothing counts until your are actually in a monitoring program, but it looks good that you have obtained employment where there are no narcs. My guess is 'yes' to the narc restriction, since diverting was an issue.
@Persephone Paige i have been in monitoring progra since october 2018 but i just havent went in front of board yet. I have to report my conviction to them when i renew and then face them. Just not sure if thats what i am waiting for to get the restrictions.

Hmmm, that may be different then. Maybe your narc restriction will be over! I sure hope so.
I hope so too! I mean I don't want to get a job involving giving a lot of narcotics but being able to do all the duties a job requires would be nice. But everyone else on here has gotten through it so I will too if that's what I need to do! ? @Persephone Paige
