Name MA Hospital and Starting Salary

Published

Hey all! There is a thread on the NY forum where they share information re: salaries etc. It seemed very helpful so I thought we should do this for Massachusetts. If people could mention their starting rates, night differentials, bonuses, other benefits or perks, that would be very helpful to many of us. Thanks!!! (Still a nursing student in Boston!)

Beth Israel $28.00. ($25.75 plus ppc of $2.25)

Specializes in ICU/CCU/SICU.

Southcoast Hospital Group (Charlton, St. Luke's and Tobey)

$24.70 base (new grads)

$2.80 evening diff

$4.50 night diff

$1.80 weekend diff

They also pay for your NCLEX-RN review course

I work at Beth Israel as well. Pay for new grads is 25.75- I'm currently making 27.20- with new grad base and 1.45 PPC. Beth Israel does not go by the differential model, which makes it annoying and confusing. I think the PPC differs depending on what floor you work. I'm going to be working permanent nights now, and not sure what additional pay I'll get. I know a couple of nurses who do the weekend program and if you work days weekend program, you get an additional 6 an hour along with base pay. Nights I can't remember, I think it was 7-8?? Hope this helps. :)

Hey there! I'm starting NS in Sept and I'll probably be doing some clinical rotations where you are at. My NS is about 40 miles north of Boston. If you work at Anna Jaques, Holy Family, Lawrence Gen, Lowell Gen, Saints Mem, Merrimack Valley Hosp, Salem Hosp, etc, then I'll see you! Please be nice to me. :)

I just interviewed for a job at BI and was curious as to what PPC is? Also, how do you enjoy working at the hopsital? thanks.

PPC is Professional Pay Code, or scale. They determine a certain additional amount with the base salary and that sort of becomes the "differential." You get paid the same for every shift you work...so you don't make any more working nights then you do days, which kinda stinks...I think it varies depending on the floor you work. Like for example, when I was first hired, I made 1.11 PPC as well as my base pay, and another member here gerry has a 2.28 PPC which was kinda weird that we're both different. Oh well..The system is confusing...its supposed to go up or down quarterly depending what shifts you work..like obviously nights are higher. I'll be working permanent nights..so I don't know how much additional I'll be making with the base pay. Sorry if this wasn't clear...but it is confusing. What floor did you apply to?

Hi Gotta,

I'll be nice to all students since I know what its like to be in those shoes, but I am going to be working in the ER at one of those mentioned hospitals so probably wont have to many nursing students on a regular basis I am assuming.
