Nail and skin care

So you all know what it's like... Constantly washing and sanitizing your hands. They become dry and rough and cracked. I'm just wondering what you guys do to keep your skin and nails healthy?

I carry a small container of Aveeno in my pocket. I use it after I wash my hands after caring for a patient, if I know I'm not going to be washing my hands again in the next two minutes. Saves my hands! I can't use anything scented, or it stings.

Do you find Avenno works good? I use lotion constantly and I find my skin is still dry

I've tried a zillion different lotions, and Aveeno's the only thing that works for me. It's not instant if my hands are already cracked, but with maintenance, it works really well. It feels like a dream when my hands do get dry and cracked. I get the one with the green cap (the oatmeal one I think?).

Awesome thanks so much! Can't wait to try

I give myself manicures at home regularly to keep my cuticles and very short nails in tact. I've never used aveeno body lotion but I think Burt's bees lotion in the tiny jar is the most moisturizing lotion ever! It even helps get rid of eczema patches.

For daily use, I rotate through a few...Bath and Body Works' Look Ma New Hands is a favorite. At night if my hands are cracked, I go straight to Bag Balm and socks. I also love the Burt's Bees Almond cream.

Stay hydrated and make sure to get enough vitamins.

I use CamoCare hand creme. Each person finds their own way to help keep hands from cracking

I don't know what soap we have at the hospitals I've been in, but I swear I'd love to have a barrel of that stuff for at home because my hands don't dry out and crack, as much as I wash them! I rarely use the sanitizer, I'd rather wash my hands (that's just me, I'm weird about the sanitizer, although I will use it in a pinch).

I love gold bond. I use it for everything.

Doesn't this defeat the purpose of washing your hands if you immediately handle the same non-sterile item after every hand wash?
