My Road to FREAKING Out and PASSING NCLEX-RN

Passing the NCLEX took persistence, hard work, and a whole lot of support from the AllNurses community. In addition, it required a number of resources to ensure readiness for this beast of an exam. In the below article, I highlight my journey to becoming an RN; I hope it provides a model that you can use to pass the NCLEX, too! Nurses Announcements Archive Article

I took the nclex in October after graduating in May. Didn't crack a book but for three days before the exam I watched those Hurst review videos on important subjects and material I was hazy on. In school I got an F on my m/s fluid and electrolytes/abg exam (72) but the videos helped me immensely with that material.

I have a method of thinking that has got me through every test and certs since I failed my 1st take at the state boards. In the old days it was a certain grade required by subjects I flunked OB-GYN by 4 points. But then I only had to re-take that portion. But the biggest problem with taking test to me is the fear of the unknown. I approach the test as my enemy and with the attitude, after studying , I take the test and if I don't pass the first time, then with the first attempt I had the opportunity to see the enemy face to face and in the event I do fail. Then I will have the advantage for the second go round. This really deflates the anxiety bubble in side and believe it or not I have never failed any of my test or certs since the Nursing Boards many years ago. So its not the end of the world if you fail a test, and for me this method has worked......just a thought
