  1. Hello, haven't posted here in several years--if it's the wrong place, I apologize and feel free to move/remove--but am looking to find some PRN work in the San Jose area. I've worked PCU and Tele over the past 7 years. Lots of travel experience and after two years of covid traveling I'm looking to slow down. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks! *Also posted this in the travel nursing forum; if this violates any of the forum rules, feel free to remove.

  3. Well, that's a drag.
  4. Can any of you nice folks from the Monterey Peninsula give me some idea of what the job market is like there for RN's? I'm coming up on a year of acute-care med-surg experience in Texas. I used to live in Pacific Grove and have been dying to get back to the area. Just want to know what my chances are of finding work, preferably a staff position in Monterey or Salinas. Any info, tips, suggestions are most appreciated!
  5. Thanks for your reply. You want to hear something funny? I was on the phone with the BRN on Monday and the guy I was talking to told me the Board WOULD accept my transcripts from nursing school fom me if they were in an official seal envelope! I'm not going to take any chances so I will just have them sent by the school. As for the electronic transcripts, you're probably right. After all, that would just be way too easy and convenient.
  6. Susan! When your father and i agreed to let YOU pick out the new curtains, we didn't mean today!
  7. It's an unusual day that I don't wipe a butt or two.
  8. I lost a patient my very first week of orientation. Just an hour before he died I had been speaking with his sister on the phone and I had told her he was doing fine (baseline, that is, which frankly wasn't that great). And then there was the time I was drawing blood sample from a picc line...the pt was HIV and Hep C +. When transferring from the syringe to the tube I connected the transfer device to the tube first then to the syringe. The result was a small explosion of blood from the pressure. The blood hit my hands and chest but thankfully none got in my eyes. That happened at 7am and I was a wreck the rest of the day. But it does get better! Even if I do still stink, after 10 months, at starting IV's!
  9. I could have written this one myself. Just starting month 11 and I still have days where I feel like an incompetent loser and made the wrong decision. Nursing reminds me of that old Beatles song: It's Getting Better (It Can't Get No Worse). :)
  10. Thanks for the advice. I just sent them am an email. Hope I don't have to wait two weeks for a reply. Lord, I hope this process doesn't take too long. The fellow I spoke with at the BRN told me 6 to 8 weeks once the file is complete. Hope he's right. I've GOT to get back to California!
  11. Hello all! I am applying for licensure by endorsement from TX to California. I've attended several different schools (mainly in Calif) but I received my ADN nursing degree in Texas. Now, I know I have to have that form filled out by the school that I got my nursing degree at, but will the board accept electronic transcripts from my other schools? Thanks to anyone who can provide information. Sean
  12. Hey Nee, I didn't see your original congrats. Thanks!
  13. Hi nickalicious. I'm out of district (Taylor) and I got in. My grades were as follows: A&P I (A), A&P II (A), Intro Psychology (A), Composition (B), Composition II (A), Humanities Elective (A), and Speech ©. I think that covers it. The "C" I got was in a speech class I took over 20 years ago so maybe they took that into consideration; however, I think they based admissions decision on a formula, but who knows. I scored a 95.26 on the Hesi. I also have a BA in English magna cum laude, though I don't know if that influenced their decision. I suspect not but again who knows. I don't think the C in A&P I will hurt you any more than it would if you got it in Intro to Psych or, like me, Speech. Based on my layman's impression, you obviously need to score REALLY well on the Hesi. I mean make it your mission. Also, ace whatever prereq's you have left. An "A" in microbiology would neutralize the "C" in API and send a positive signal that you're serious about nursing. Hope that helped. I wish you lots of luck and make the most of the next year and get yourself in there! Sean
  14. Hey, I got in too! Whew.
  15. Posts on this website. A couple of people said they attached them to their apps. Hey, when I got my HESI report/eval, it said that the average composite score was 81. I took the HESI the second to last day I could take it, so I assume that score reflected all exam takers up to that point. What was the average score you saw on your report?
