I took an NCLEX yesterday. It finished @ 75 questions. I think I failed... It was just so different from waht I expected it to be... 45% of prioritizing/assignement questions, few of age appropriate toys, few on pharmacology and 3 new format questions. What do you think guys, did I fail?...
And what question trainer should I use to master prioritization question?
And where can I find all age-appropriate toys?

Hello and welcome to the forum :)
Seems everyone feels the same right after taking NCLEX from what I hear, and if it's any comfort, I've not heard of anyone failing on 75 questions. When do you get your result?
There are a few UK nurses on here, some who have already passed NCLEX and some waiting to do it.
Tell us a bit about yourself, where will you be going in the US? Are you with an agency or going it alone? Did you do NCLEX here in London? (Nosey aren't I?) :chuckle

New York

Trying to do it alone, but if nothing happens then I'll go for the agency

There is lots of information in the study material on age related questions, the big NCLEX study books have a chapter on this topic. Which review materials did you use?
My heart goes out to you re how you are feeling, I haven't heard of anybody not feeling awful, I have taken lots of exams in my time but nothing prepared me for the feeling post NCLEX.
You know I thought it was because us Brits are doing it alone and we dont know anybody to discuss it with but from reading it on here all the US students feel the same and they have fellow students to talk it over with.
In my nclex I had lots of questions on universal precausions, each one I thought sh** I must have got the previous ones wrong, how can I not know such simple stuff. The rest of the questions were on such obscure illnesses I hadnt even heard of them let alone studied them lol. Kept thinking my god do the americans die of very strange illness instead of the usual ones we see here like stroke, obesity, MI's lol

The NCLEX is VERY different to what you expect it to be...I failed it first time on 109 questions (but to be honest having both my two sons ill and my Hubby it wasnt surprising)....but it wasnt the end of the world and I sat it again 3 months later (you can now sit it in LOndon now of course and within 45 days - when I did it those arrangements werent available )
I passed the second time with 76 questions and I felt slightly better than I did the last time - but boy is it a horrible feeling or what waiting to find out...I really feel for you and wish you luck - let us know the outcome :)
There are more people who pass at 75 than there is that fail.

I really feel for you, I know exacly what you mean because i took the CGFNS on wednesday and i came out feeling the same way, i felt like they had asked most of the stuff that i did not read about. Some disorders i had not even heared off. I have not even recovered from that day yet, 2 days later i still feel drained and tired, i hope you made it though, just take a deep breath and dont make this one time make you lose you faith, if you dont make try and try again.

Hi. Is NCLEX_RN very different of CGFNS examination? I've done some research and I don't think it's too different. Is there anybody who has taken both examinations, what doi you think?

I personally think that it is easier, CGFNS goes much more indepth into the Patho-Physiology, etc. NCLEX is just testing to see if you will be a "safe" nurse by their standards. Each exam is different and they pick up on topics that you do not feel comfortable with. NCLEX goes much more into common sense and priority-type questions. CGFNS is also a test of "medical" english since it is just given to foreign nurses that have prepared in other countries.
My students that have actually trained with me all state that they think that NCLEX is easier of the two. Even just in the way the question is worded.
Hope that this helps..................
I have taken the CGfNS, i have not taken the NCLEX yet, but just based on studying for both of them i have to agree that NCLEX is much better.......
We haven't heard any more from you..............how did you do on the exam?
Well, I don't have any good news.....:chair:
