My kids are sending me to the psyc. ward

THEY ARE DRIVING ME CRAZY!!! (sorry.. having one of those days)

maybe because my hubby is gone (week #1 out of 5 mos).

maybe because they are only 2 and 5 yrs old.

maybe because Im too scared to beat the tar out of them in public

Tell ya what, I came close to tonight... Took my two "angels" out for pizza for dinner. As soon as the door opened to go inside, they take off running inside. Running toward the video games, I calmly tell them "no, lets wait untill after we eat". The 2 yr old is already sitting at the race car game, when my 5 yr old SHOVES her out of the seat. Both are screaming bloody murder. I swear everyone at Pizza Inn stopped and stared...

Then... I get a table, wrangled the angels up... and attempt to put the 2 yr old in a high chair. She starts screaming AGAIN! Legs spread wide open, flairing around. Refuses to sit in the chair. She wants to sit in the real chair. No big deal youd think, but she wont sit there either. She constantly gets up and runs around. Hence the need to STRAP HER DOWN.

She still refuses, so I give in (tired of making a scene). She takes one bite of pizza, and starts running around the table in circles. Im PLEADING with her to please sit and eat. MORE SCREAMING!

UGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!! My 5 yr old just sits there and laughs. I felt like crying. Completley lost my appitite, start nagging the 5 yr old to hurry and eat so we can leave. I am completely embarrased by now. Felt like crawling under the table. Complete strangers were patting me on the back as they left. Telling me Im a trooper... blah blah blah.

Now that we are home... My 2 yr old sneakes the whole 1/2 gallon of ice cream into her room and is eating it/smearing on the carpet.

I NEED A VACATION FROM THE KIDS ALREADY. ONLY BEEN 1 WEEK WITHOUT HELP FROM HUBBY.... ONLY 2 MORE MONTHS TO GO. I swear as you all as my witnesses that I will NEVER take these children out to eat again.

Please tell me Im not alone. Please give me hope that most kids are like this. Please give the the dream that I will once again, one day, get to sit down for a nice dinner in public, and actually enjoy myself. (p.s. will I have to wait untill they are 18 and OUT OF MY HOUSE?)

Im sending the kids to bed and having a beer. Thank you for letting me vent.

Nurse in boots, it sounds like you are doing a great job.

I haven't got anykids of my own, but I do baby sit family members, and can draw on my own memories.

My cousin asked me to babysit her son, 2y/o who she lets get away with murder, the first time he kicked, I turned off the tv, after a brief screaming match by him, I turned off the power because as soon as my back was turned he turned it on again... Then the tantrum started, I put him in the back garden until he apologised, and calmed down. I realise this probably sounds bad, but it was a closed military estate, and a fenced off garden, and it was summer and still light out. But he never played up for me again.

Babysitting his brother, 4y/o, really bad language, was constantly being threatened would have his mouth washed out with soap, after he swore at me, I calmly said:" you can wash your mouth out, or I can" He stood and cleaned his teeth with soap on the brush.

Physcial discipline shouldn't automaticaly equal abuse, I don't believe a child should ever be slapped across the face, especialy if it is becasue the parent has had enough, I am sure there is no way if you are that stressed that you can be sure you will not hurt the child.

I am always obsesively careful about the line, although, physical discipline seems to be more accepted in the UK than in the US, for example, nurse in boots, int he resteraunt, you would probably heard quite a few people telling you to take your children over your lap, it happens a lot where I work.

My own experience as a child?, I always new the threat of a smack was their because other peoples parents did it, and then my parents did to my sister once.

I had my mouth washed out with soap, I still don't swear in front of my parents, they know I swear but as long as they don't hear it they are happy.

I have never been grounded, or tried to runaway so my parents must have done something right, the one and only time physical discipline sticks in my mind, my sister bit a huge chunk out of my back, and she got a smack for it, I got stiches and a patch of skin that doesn't change colour in the sun!

whisper

p.s. Sorry for going on so long, steppingoff the soap/babble box, But I am tired and my neighbour is having a fricking party,:(

Passin thru....I Have seen posts from you that have angered and amazed me....but this thread beats the hell all........ slap them across the face? Keep your tax refund toots. You'll need it for your lawyer and get out of jail card......... Unbelievable....

When my youngest was about 2 years old he started throwing huge temper tantrums at home. Screaming, kicking the whole bit.

For about two weeks I would sit on the floor indian style and put him on my lap and hold his arms and legs to his side. He would srceam and try to kick for about 1 hour. Id just talk soft to him. He would eventully tire himself out. Afer two weeks of this the tantrums quit.

I guess he knew he wasnt going to get his way after awhile. Or he would forget about whatever was bothering him.
