I checked on jobs available around here (SC) and have found out that I have picked a great career! There are tons of RN and LPN jobs available at my two small town local hospitals not to mention the drs offices. I'm so excited that I picked this field. It looks like I will love my job and I will have plenty of jobs to choose from. The local hospital will even pay for my tuition if I will promise to work for them when I'm done with school. That means no loans!!
Now that I typed all that, I know some of you will try to burst my bubble, but facts are facts. No bubble bursting the facts.:D
At just ONE of the many nearby hospitals where I live, there are 69 RN, LPN, & CNA positions (most RN), 5 positions for nurse externs, and at least 6 new grad positions with up to 12 months preceptorship -- I say "at least" 6 because that is how many different departments (ER, CVICU, Med/Surg, OR, PACU, and OB) have postings for new grads, not sure how many they need for each unit.

I am happy for a postive post too. I'm not sure if I want to be an RN. I come to these boards to learn about a job before I put the next several years of my life into it plus spend $$$$. Just when I think RN is the job for me, I leave these boards feeling so depressed. I have several friends in the medical field and every single one of them has told me to stay away from the message boards.
You don't need to apologize or lie awake at night thinking about this. Positivity is great, of course. I don't think your post was wrong or anything like that and I certainly did not mean to imply that it was.
Thank you! I'm relatively new here and really had no intention of causing any trouble! Thanks again!

That's how it is around here! I hate that it is not like this for everyone, though!

Another friend, same thing (40's, second career) who graduated almost a year ago. Both love their jobs and had no trouble finding one that was the right fit for them. I'm glad that's how things are where I live, but I know it's unfortunately not like that in every area in the country right now.
So remember stories like these if the message boards get you down.
