Getting accepted into USC (South Carolina) FNP program for the spring smester
I just got accepted into their FNP program for this Fall 2017. I graduated with my BSN in December 2016 with honors and a 3.8 gpa. I also have been working for 3 years on a pulmonary progressive care floor at a major hospital in my area.

Duke FNP Fall 2015
Thank you! Anyone else, please share what you put on your app that helped you get accepted? Also, those that got financial aid please tell me what form of aid it was and amounts if you don't mind please? It's expensive but it's a #1 program and convenient for my life. Sorry for all the questions. Thanks!

Duke FNP Fall 2015
For those that have gotten in, may I ask what kind of certifications, degrees, leadership experience, volunteer work, committees, etc. that you included on your application that may have helped you get in? Thanks.

seeking advice about psych np
I am no expert, as I am just starting my nursing education, but I believe getting your BSN, if you do not have any nursing education, is the best way to get accepted into an NP program. If you already have a bachelor's degree in something then you may be able to do an accelerated BSN program. There are a lot of schools now that have online programs available too. I want to eventually be an NP and am looking into psych! Good luck to you!

Mission Hospital Asheville or Duke
Mission is a great hospital with an awesome heart department, one of the best. I was a heart patient there almost 6 years ago and was very impressed with the nurses and doctors there. I am a first year nursing student and may work there some day. I have heard it helps if you know someone that works there and that they ask you if you do. My husband's aunt has been there for over 20 years and has loved it! Good luck everyone!

Feeling really down in the dumps and friend-less in nursing school...advice needed
I am also doing extremely well in Nursing school. Better than I thought after hearing all the stories! I do not tell but only a select few my grades but most of my classmates know I am doing well. So far there has not been any drama and no one seems jealous. Even if they do start, I am there to learn and be the best nurse I can possibly be. Making friends is not the goal here, especially if they want to act like that. I will say that so far, I have some pretty great classmates!

Fall 2012 new nursing students roll call!!!
I got accepted into two school's programs, I am proud to say! I am choosing the one that is closer to my home as I am not working and my husband is also going to school (the same school I chose) and we have four kids. Plus football season will be starting soon and we have 3 of our kids involved in that! Yay! Good thing I like to be busy! I am excited!!

Nursing School Insurance and Pre-Existing Condition
I agree to check with your state laws. Also, my state has a program where they offer pretty good health ins for people that cannot get insured elsewhere, rates are pretty reasonable. I have a history of CHF and I am in my early 30's (it has been under control for awhile now) and no one wants to insure me! So check to see if your state offers anything like that.

Male, 25, Prospective nurse. ADN or Accelerated BSN?
Mattmrn, I also live in NC and that is my exact plan too. A cc is so much cheaper for the basics and I plan to work on my transfer courses for my BSN there too. Then I will do the RN to BSN all online. I will then go on to get my MSN for FNP. I am so excited about this. I also volunteer at the hospital and free clinic in my area. Reading your post was like reading my own "5 yr plan". Good luck to you! Kjawnq, It sounds like either way you go would work great for you. So if it is cheaper to do ADN then RN to BSN that would be what I would do (and plan to do, accelerated BSN is not an option for me). Online classes at some schools can be cheaper and more convenient. It sounds like in NY you have 10 yrs the work on that BSN anyways. Best of luck to you whatever you decide!!
