OK, so my Per Diem job is utterly cushy. LOL, hooray!
I'm glad I got this totally cushy PRN job.
Does anyone else have a really easy side gig, where they don't have to really work hard?

Question: Is it possible to get a PRN job in a specialty in which you've never worked?I know quite a few people who have PRN jobs on top of a full-time job, but they are all in the same specialty.

Not really...unless the unit really needs someone to work full time but not get benefits.

Pfft.. tell me about it, the last time I had to do a reference form, I had to remind two managers for two weeks to do it. One was off, the other was on vacation.. etc.. etc..
Hoping to get mine sorted soon, as soon as my coworkers actually complete the reference forms they said they'd do for me!Pinning down a nurse to finish a reference form is a lot like trying to hold water in a sieve sometimes.

I had a cushy, easy PDN job. Quit it after five months because I was bored to tears!
Same here. I turned one down because it was too boring--there really wasn't much for me to do.

No...no I don't have a cushy job. LOL. Well... I guess compared to other LTC facilities I have a good gig. Outstanding benefits, with great pay, differentials... but I do work my butt off more times than not. Depends on what unit I am on. I don't like to be bored. I'll call my supervisor and help another nurse out.

Wow, really? In every nursing home I've ever seen or worked at, every single nurse, RN or LPN, is stretched so thin you can almost see through them. I've never heard of a nursing home that pays anyone to just "round once or twice a shift" or "sit in their office twiddling their thumbs"! Sounds like your co-workers have fallen into a rare and wonderful thing!
Worked in a nursing home exactly like this for five years. Rounded once or twice to show my face the rest of the time sat in my office. LPN's ran the floors, they knew those clients well, meds and treatments. I was only called for emergencies. Clearly they needed an RN license.

Off Topic Intermission:
Write your own reference and give it to them. They can either confirm or deny what you have written about yourself.
You'll find that you'll have a quicker response that way.

I have a cushy PD gig as well. It helps off set the my main job, sort of a little vacation. ;-) Plus the extra money never hurts in the long run.
