My CA-LVN Timeline

World Registration

Published

I'll start my timeline here.

Background information. I'm a Philippine graduate, 2013, passed PNLE 1st try right after, and NCLEX-RN Texas 1st try on December 2, 2014. Didn't bother attempting to apply for CA-BRN, because I'd throw money at the concurrency, knowing that the 3 year clock would start. US born citizen with SS as well.

December 4, 2014 sent the following packet. (Also used this as part of my cover sheet for LVN application) (I edited out personal information) (Feel free to use)

*Payment of $150 in the form of a check to BVNPT

*Application for vocational nurse licensure in California, completed and signed

*Record of conviction, completed and signed. (2 pages)

*Sealed envelope from my college, containing my transcripts and record of nursing program

*Envelope with one 2x2 picture

*Finished live scan fingerprinting form

*Photocopy of my diploma from High School

*Photocopy of my Philippine nursing license

*Photocopy of my college diploma

December 6 sent email to BVNPT asking about the declaration form. I read up on AllNurses that some people managed to get the declaration form ahead of time, instead of having to wait for them. Basic paraphrase, some edits.

I am aware that it's too early for us to inquire if you have received it yet, but my concern is about the "declaration of nursing education" also known as the yellow form. I read online that we are able to request this yellow form ahead of time (Before or after sending our application), to help speed up the process, by sending it back to the BVNPT, before you guys request it from us.

So the question is, am I able to request two of these yellow forms to fill out the declaration of nursing education? If yes, may you send it to the following address?

*********

December 8, early morning they replied (Quite fast, I commend them on that)

Hello Good Morning,

We will mail you two forms, today.

Their reply was so simple lol. I should have asked them for the declaration form, before sending my application, so that it would all be in the same folder, but wasn't aware that we could get it ahead of time. I highly recommend that you get it before you apply, so that it's all together when they receive it. (They should really just include the yellow declaration form as a downloadable on their site)

So that's pretty much where I'm at. Now gotta wait 2 months or so.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

  • January 30 got my "ATT", which will be generated when I make a Pearson Vue account they said.
  • February 7 I scheduled to take the NCLEX PN at the end of the month, which was the closest date available.
  • February 25, Exam day at 8 AM. Came in at 7 AM, first to get a number, they let me start the exam process at 7:30 AM. Was done outside the building by 9 AM, finished at 85 Questions, the minimum.
  • March 11 to 18, about 2-3 weeks later (I forgot the exact date) received the official pass letter, which had the form to fill out and like 150 dollar fee to get my license, sent it out same day
  • March 27 is listed as my official date of being license on the site's verification thing
  • April 22, started working as a LVN in a skilled nursing facility

Thank you! I hope i can also have a smooth and fast process as yours.

may i ask your email cause i have some questions. if its okay. tia

i would like to say that your thread is just so helpful to us TheAverageMan.. Kudos for you!

Just graduated in Phil. April 2014. passed PNLE Jun 2014. Now, I'm planning to apply for LVN.

his will be my guide to this journey of LVN.

What method did you follow in you application is it Method 2 or method 3?

I am following the Method 2 now: " Graduate of an Out-of-State School of Practical/Vicational Nursing. or should I suppose to follow Method 3 "Equivalent education and/or Experience"

I've seen the list of requirements you've sumbmitted. seems same in method 2, am i correct?

Thanks for your reply guys.

Oh man, I haven't been in this thread of mine in a long time. Since I started working in April 22 in a Skilled Nursing Facility, I worked there for 5 months. I am now upgrading to a State run facility as a LVN. Better benefits, and about 29 per hour.

Skilled Nursing Facilities are brutal by the way. Low budget, for profit, LVNs, CNAs, and all floor nurses as disposable employees. People come for experience, and go ASAP. Don't get stuck in there, keep applying for better places, or else the bad habits from a SNF will stick with you.

I'll be entertaining questions here. PM me for my email if you need some specific help.
