Okay, time for a happy topic. I had a busy week last week covering for my boss who was out sick. There was some crisis management to be done, and I had to put in some extra hours and make a last-minute business trip. Although I regard this kind of thing as just part of my job, the cool thing is that she always recognizes and appreciates the extra effort. She presented me today with a beautiful black leather wallet, which I love.
A few months ago, something similar happened where she was out of town on a business trip and I had to put out a lot of fires. When she got back to the office, started reading her emails and saw what I'd been handling in her absence, she immediately phoned a florist and had a huge bouquet rushed over by 10 AM with a thank-you card.
The gifts are nice, I won't lie--but that gesture of appreciation is even nicer.
