MUSC BSN FALL 2014

Published

Hey! Just wondering if anyone out there has applied for the MUSC BSN Program for Fall 2014??? I plan on applying this December so just want to know if any other applicants are out there or if anyone knows any tips that you could provide for getting in :) thanks in advance!!!

Are you applying as in-state or out of state? I applied for spring 2014 as an out of state applicant and was not accepted. They said I was in the top 5% of applicants for everything except overall GPA (which is I believe is a 3.1 or 3.2) but since they could only accept 10 out of state students, I didn't make the cut :(

I asked them if applying with in-state status was my best bet for a better chance of being accepted for the fall and they told me that's what I should do. Luckily I was given in-state status which I'm reallllly hoping will help me get accepted.

I also asked if I should try to re-take some classes to better my overall GPA and they told me since I have so many hours already that it would take a lot of time and money to make even a small difference. I'm hoping that wasn't their way of saying "don't even try because you don't have a chance" and instead their way of saying "if you apply in-state you will have a very good chance of getting accepted so don't waste your time doing anyting else!" haha I can only hope!!

With your background, you should definitely have a chance. HOWEVER, be warned that the minimum qualifications require an overall GPA of at least a 3.0. I think if you get a few more A's under your belt that should bump you up! Also, before I applied I asked an admissions counselor to review my transcripts and give me the lowdown on how competitive I would be. You could do the same to give you an idea of where you stand.

On a side note though, I DEFINITELY wouldn't let the GRE stand in your way of what you really want to do. It's just one test, and not nearly as bad as the MCAT. If it's what you love, and it sounds like it is, then don't let a few hours of one test stand in your way!

Hi APriest, I was just wondering if you were saying that your overall GPA that you applied with was a 3.1/3.2 or if the overall GPA of accepted applicants is a 3.1/3.2? Thanks!

I called the admissions office today and I was told that letters will go out at the end of the month. The waiting is so hard! I can't wait to find out!

I also called the admission office and they said that the committee made final decisions today! You can call 843-792-8515 on Monday and they will give an answer over the phone. They said we should get letters in the mail next week.

Seems like some people have called today and have gotten their decisions !

If you get in, remember to check out MUSC BSN FALL 2015 on FB. If you can't find it or are having issues, PM me and I will send you a link

So, I'm not certain why the information we are all posting is different, but I just called the phone number that champions provided and found out conflicting information. They told me that the committee DID meet last night, but they won't be able to notify anyone over the phone until next Wednesday at the earliest. Can anyone confirm that people have heard decisions over the phone today??

Either way, we are super close to finding out! Good luck everyone!!!

My friend's friend got a confirmation on the phone today. My friend got an email stating that decisions were made, and that she "will be pleased" with the decision on her application.

Maybe it depends on who answers the phone

Good luck everyone... Enjoy this summer, because once you get going this fall, you don't stop!

Does that mean you are accepted if you received the email? I did not receive an email about the final decisions.

Not at all. I think my friend sent them an email asking if decisions were made and if they had decided on her application yet.

Oh okay.. Thank you so much!!

Hey jlsch11, that was my overall GPA. I believe the average of accepted applicants is closer to 3.5 but I'm not positive.
