Hey! Just wondering if anyone out there has applied for the MUSC BSN Program for Fall 2014??? I plan on applying this December so just want to know if any other applicants are out there or if anyone knows any tips that you could provide for getting in :) thanks in advance!!!
So, I'm not certain why the information we are all posting is different, but I just called the phone number that champions provided and found out conflicting information. They told me that the committee DID meet last night, but they won't be able to notify anyone over the phone until next Wednesday at the earliest. Can anyone confirm that people have heard decisions over the phone today??
Either way, we are super close to finding out! Good luck everyone!!!

Are you applying as in-state or out of state? I applied for spring 2014 as an out of state applicant and was not accepted. They said I was in the top 5% of applicants for everything except overall GPA (which is I believe is a 3.1 or 3.2) but since they could only accept 10 out of state students, I didn't make the cut
I asked them if applying with in-state status was my best bet for a better chance of being accepted for the fall and they told me that's what I should do. Luckily I was given in-state status which I'm reallllly hoping will help me get accepted.
I also asked if I should try to re-take some classes to better my overall GPA and they told me since I have so many hours already that it would take a lot of time and money to make even a small difference. I'm hoping that wasn't their way of saying "don't even try because you don't have a chance" and instead their way of saying "if you apply in-state you will have a very good chance of getting accepted so don't waste your time doing anyting else!" haha I can only hope!!
With your background, you should definitely have a chance. HOWEVER, be warned that the minimum qualifications require an overall GPA of at least a 3.0. I think if you get a few more A's under your belt that should bump you up! Also, before I applied I asked an admissions counselor to review my transcripts and give me the lowdown on how competitive I would be. You could do the same to give you an idea of where you stand.
On a side note though, I DEFINITELY wouldn't let the GRE stand in your way of what you really want to do. It's just one test, and not nearly as bad as the MCAT. If it's what you love, and it sounds like it is, then don't let a few hours of one test stand in your way!
