MUSC Accelerated BSN Spring 2017

Published

Hi everyone!

I'm a pre-nursing student in Charleston, SC hoping to apply for Medical University of South Carolina's Accelerated BSN program for the spring of 2017.

I'm currently completing the pre-requisites at College of Charleston, which doesn't have it's own nursing program.

I'm going to be applying with around 75 hours including the 60 hours of pre-reqs, and expect to have a GPA of about 3.8.

I'm 19, and I'm planning to apply this summer at the end of my sophomore year, but I'm worried about my chances without a previous degree and some experience working in healthcare. I'll have a good number of hospital volunteer hours, but that's it.

Is there anyone who's currently in the program right now, or has a applied before? What do you think my chances of getting in with my expected GPA and just the pre-reqs are?

Thanks!

Has anyone been accepted/ rejected that did not apply priority?

No word yet. My guess is at least a month and a half until they make a decision for the regular applicants. Time will tell. Does your applicant tracker still say evaluating pre reqs?

I applied regular as well, have not heard anything back either. & Yes my applicant tracker still says evaluating pre reqs.

Ok. Im sure it takes them a bit to get all of the applications ironed out. I checked the applicant tracker that has been mentioned on this board before and it said that there were 136 in state applications this past Friday. That doesn't seem like that many compared to years past. Hopefully that is good odds for all of us. I received a financial aid letter from MUSC yesterday in the mail. Now the waiting continues.

I've been keeping up with this board as well, 136 is small compared to the last couple of years. I am an out-of-state applicant!! I am constantly checking the mail :nailbiting:

Any standard applicants hear anything yet? I'm so anxious!

Nothing yet! I'm anxious too. From older threads, it seems like regular applicants find out mid-late October :( I was thinking of calling or emailing but I don't want to be annoying.

I did see that they updated my applicant tracker, most likely meaning they have evaluated my transcripts. I am hoping for an answer by the end of the month. Hurricane Matthew will most likely delay the overall process. All university classes have been cancelled and all offices have been closed until Monday.

I haven't heard anything back yet either, my applicant tracker was also updated!

Hey everybody! I just found this string, I applied priority admissions and received my acceptance two weeks ago! Just thought I would start talking to other people who will possibly be in my class!

Congratulations on being accepted! And good luck to everyone else! I know how terrible it is waiting to hear, but we are a smaller group of applicants than in previous years, so the odds are good :)
