Mt. Sac Nursing Spring 2019

Published

Hello everyone,

I decided to make this post to connect with others who will be applying to Mt. Sac's program for the Spring of 2019. After calculating my points for the multicriteria screening I'm currently at 52 points before the Hesi. I'm scheduled to take the Hesi on the 31st. Really hoping to end up with 77-80 points, I've read that the cutoff is usually around 77 points so I'm praying that will be the case this year as well. Although I saw a comment on the Fall 2018 thread & someone got in with 72 points as an alternate. I'll also be applying to Chaffey, San Bernardino Valley & Western Governors University.

Good luck everyone!

Ariii - Taking that HESI and the pressure!! 87 is still a great score!! I think you should definitely apply as you never know what the outcome will be since its a different applicant pool every semester!

NursingHopeful95 - Taking Anatomy is great if it will boost your GPA, the only bad thing is you have to make sure all the schools you are applying to take repeats. From what you were saying before about your score, I think you will be fine. I'm a little doubtful as well but I am still going to apply in hopes that I will fall in the range of applicants applying. :)

Always keeping my fingers crossed!

An 87 is still a really good score! I completely understand what it's like being so close to the score you want though!

I think I may actually retake my anatomy class to get the A because I honestly don't think I'm going to be getting in anywhere for this upcoming Spring term:(

Someone got in as an alternate with 72 points last spring. There's still hope!

Wishing the best for you & everyone else on here as well :)

Thank you! You totally get me. :(

Wow that's actually a great idea! If I don't get in for Spring, I'll definitely retake Anatomy to get an A and it'll bump up my overall science GPA an extra 5 points, leaving me with 77 points for Fall 2019!

But I have a feeling we are gonna get in, I'm totally crossing our fingers. :)

Btw quick questions, all of the documents you sent in your application, were they .pdf, .png, .jpeg? I tried emailing the Nursing department but they seldom reply. e_e

Thank you so much. I guess I'm a little hard on myself sometimes hehe. Did you already take the HESI and apply? And quick question, did you use the BOG fee waiver at all to prove your eligibility for "Low Family Income"?

Thank you! You totally get me. :(

I totally do!

Stressful times but like you I have hope :)

Is Mt. Sac the only program you applied for?

Yes I checked with the schools I'm applying at & they all said they allow one science retake. Like you I would get 5 extra points for an A in Anatomy. 5 points can make all the difference!

I submitted them in pdf :)

I did take the Hesi already & apply.

& yes I used the Bog waiver for low family income :)

Thank you! You totally get me. :(

Hi!

Yes, positive mentality is always a good thing! As for documentation , .pdf is what they would want..I plan on attending the application help session even though it may be kind of late. I want to make sure my application is perfect. I haven't sent in anything but I am slowly adding things since I am waiting on some transcripts. I think all the nursing departments during the summer don't answer their phones frequently enough. I hope I miscalculated and I end up with more points than I actually have so I have a higher chance. :)

Good luck to everyone who is applying!(:

I applied with 78 points. I hope we all get in lol.

Some more quick questions. Am I able to complete my hours in two different hospitals? Also Can I still get some points for only doing half the hours?

Hi Jocebaf

To my knowledge, I believe that you can complete your hours at two different locations but as long as it meets the multi criteria requirement which is in-patient care. You have to make sure that your hours plus the description of what you do is on the letter or form that they give you. As far as half points, I don't think they would give you half points as it doesn't meet their requirement. From what I have heard at the meetings if really look at what they are asking for in the multi-criteria sheet and follow that unless there's a variation, contact the nursing department. Good Luck!

Hi Helena21,

I hope we all get in, I wish I had 78 points but the HESI got me! Not giving up though, we can all hope for the best. :)

In patient care, meaning working with an actual patient or..?
