Mt. Sac Nursing Spring 2019

Published

Hello everyone,

I decided to make this post to connect with others who will be applying to Mt. Sac's program for the Spring of 2019. After calculating my points for the multicriteria screening I'm currently at 52 points before the Hesi. I'm scheduled to take the Hesi on the 31st. Really hoping to end up with 77-80 points, I've read that the cutoff is usually around 77 points so I'm praying that will be the case this year as well. Although I saw a comment on the Fall 2018 thread & someone got in with 72 points as an alternate. I'll also be applying to Chaffey, San Bernardino Valley & Western Governors University.

Good luck everyone!

Hello! Thanks for joining the chat!

Thank you, at this point I am just hoping for the best.

Best of luck! My best advice to you is to really focus on Math & A&P. Grammar, Vocab, & Reading comp in my opinion were Very straight forward. For math no calculators are provided or allowed. Memorize the conversions in the study book you will absolutely need them. Remember to simplify all your answers & know how to convert from fraction to decimal, decimal to percent etc.

Chemistry, Biology, & Physics was excluded from the exam. Not tested on it.

& I printed and scanned my financial aid award letter from Mt. Sac as my financial need documentation.

Hope that helps!

Best of luck. You got this.

Thank you so much for the information and encouragement. :) I'm planning on going to the nursing department tomorrow and ask some more questions about documentations. Then I'll be heading over to take the HESI! I tried emailing the department if it was possible for me to take it next Monday, the 6th. I haven't had much time to study for the HESI cause I was taking Micro this summer. I haven't heard from them yet, so no matter what happens I know I'll be prepared!

Best of luck to you as well! Hopefully I'll see you at the program next year! ^_^

Hi!

Sorry for my late reply, I would say even if you didn't get an response, just go and show up. I saw that there still people from the wait list that didn't show so there is a chance that they may let you take it. Definitely review what you weakest is first but all the subjects were straightforward. I didn't review my grammar as much as I should have which I didn't do as well well as I would of liked but I am still hopeful!

I'm right there with you!

Grammar & reading comp were actually my best subjects & Anatomy & Physiology was way more in depth than the books I studied from.

It's been pretty quiet compared to other years threads. Here's to hoping it'll be a quiet & less competitive term to apply. I actually just finished scanning all the documentation & I submitted my application already. Mount Sac is about 30 minutes from my house so it's my 3rd choice. I Love the campus though so obviously I would love to get in! Yes here's to hoping for the best

Yea the campus is nice, and its nicely maintained. I need to get started on mine I waited cause I wanted my attention to be on studying. :) Can't wait til end of the year to get results...I'm already anxious.

Hello, I'm glad you made this post so we can be in contact with other students applying to Mt SAC for Spring 2019. I am also planning on applying for Spring 2019. In fact, I take my HESI exam tomorrow at Mt. SAC. Any advise or hints as to what to expect? How in depth is the anatomy and physiology part? Is there a lot of conversions? Thanks in advance.

Hello! Welcome :)

Good luck! I'm sure you'll do great.

Personally Half of my math questions were conversions but I know it's different for everyone. Also I thought the Anatomy & Physiology was pretty in depth. Studying from my study book wasn't enough I should have looked back at my old notes from my A&P classes but it wasn't Too bad if that makes sense.

I hope that helps.

Thank you. I will make sure to look back at my old anat/physio notes.

Hi I have a few questions that hopefully you guys can answer. How do I sign up to take the HESI, like is there a time lot application? And how many times is it available? Also where did you sign up to do the volunteer hours? And lastly, would you suggest taking sociology?

Hello!

For the next few Hesi examination dates I know it's closed but I believe you can still get on the waitlist so I would call the nursing department. Also I could be mistaken (since I'm applying to so many programs) but I believe Sociology is a general ed requirement so I would recommend it personally.

Also application period opened in July & closes September 1st. I did volunteer hours at San Antonio community hospital.

The info on how to sign up to take the HESI is in this link: HESI A2 Assessment Testing

There are no more dates to take the HESI this year. You will have to wait for the next application period which is Jan 1- March 1 ,2019. You will have to check the link when the next application period starts to see what days are available to take the HESI but there is not an exact date when the HESI exam dates will be posted...so you will have to check it every couple of days or daily (it's up to you).

In regards to volunteering, I recommend you google hospitals that are near where you live and see if they take volunteers. Sociology is not required at Mt. SAC for general Ed or nursing prerequisites...but if you are planning on transferring to a university after you do the nursing program at Mt. SAC then you should check and see if the university you want to transfer to requires you to take sociology.

Did my HESI 4 days ago and I got an 87 :( The Reading Comprehension was ridiculously ambiguous in my opinion and was my lowest score. Really sad I didn't get that A. Alas, I shall be applying for the program with a score of 72 points. I'm hoping it'll be enough to get in, even as an alternate. *fingers crossed*

Right now I'm just waiting for my grades to be posted for Summer 2018 for my new Microbiology grade, just gotta gather a couple more documents and I'll finally apply to this thing. x_x Wishing the best for everyone.

An 87 is still a really good score! I completely understand what it's like being so close to the score you want though!

I think I may actually retake my anatomy class to get the A because I honestly don't think I'm going to be getting in anywhere for this upcoming Spring term:(

Someone got in as an alternate with 72 points last spring. There's still hope!

Wishing the best for you & everyone else on here as well :)
