Mt. Sac Nursing Spring 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone,

I decided to make this post to connect with others who will be applying to Mt. Sac's program for the Spring of 2019. After calculating my points for the multicriteria screening I'm currently at 52 points before the Hesi. I'm scheduled to take the Hesi on the 31st. Really hoping to end up with 77-80 points, I've read that the cutoff is usually around 77 points so I'm praying that will be the case this year as well. Although I saw a comment on the Fall 2018 thread & someone got in with 72 points as an alternate. I'll also be applying to Chaffey, San Bernardino Valley & .

Good luck everyone!

Hieveryone!

I'm working on the math packet but I was wondering if anyone can help me.

For the fractions section numbers 59 - 62, it says raise the following fractions to higher terms using the denominators given...what does that mean? The way I'm looking at it, it's just solving for the variable. To me, the problems look like ratios.

Has anyone done this section yet?

Hello! I hope I can explain it but to my understanding you basically calculate what the higher numbers with the same ratio would be given the information you have...so the #59 was 3/5 = 21/d, which looking at 3 and 21 it is a multiple of 7. Using that 7 you multiply to the 5 making it 35 so it would be 21/35. Ratio is the same but higher terms. I hope this helps and I googled just in case.

Ooooooh! I was thinking like

3/5 = 21/d

5(21) = 3(d)

105=3(d)

35=d

I tried applying what you said to #60 but I'm not seeing it. What you said definitely makes sense but my brain is stuck right now. Maybe if I keep working on it it'll come to me. What search terms did you Google?

Yea I was thinking that to but I searched on google higher term fractions and it seems like that's what they were doing. I may be wrong so if you look it up as well let me know if I explained it right. lol. As for #60 since the denominator was the number given you divide the 156 by 12 which becomes 13 and then multiply it to the 11 which is 143 /156. This is a good refresher, I feel like I forgot all my basic math skills. Hope this helps!

I figured it out and yes it was exactly how you said! I also googled the same as you. Thank you!

Great! At least you started on the packet. I just skimmed through plan to do it all next week.

Has anyone created a Facebook page yet?

Hi all! Congratulations to everyone who got in!! For those who didn't, don't give up :) I am applying for Fall 2019 but I haven't seen a thread for that application period. I was just wondering if anyone knows where I can take the HESI outside of Mt. Sac? I thought I was staying on top of it by reserving a spot the day the dates posted on the website but they filled up so quickly :( I'm really hoping I'm able to apply to their program. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Hi! I think you can go onto the elsevier? Website to see if they have any testing locations that offer the same subjects as Mt. Sac. If you have the time I suggest asking if there is a waitlist and if there isnt then go every day because when I went on test date there were no shows. Best of luck. Just keep calling cause circumstances happen to everyone.

Hi everyone!

Its so cool that there’s a thread for the spring program, I remember I got really into reading a thread about people applying for yhe 2018 program and how they all scored and got in and stuff, so it’s pretty exciting for me to commenting on one of these things lol. The only thing I need to do is finish my physiology class and take the HESI, right now(assuming I’ll get a B in this class) im at 56 points. If I get at least 82% or above on the HESI I’ll be 81 points. Hopefully if I get in I’ll meet some of you from the thread. If anyone is having a hard time with points I suggest taking the time over the summer and trying the CNA program they offer there. It’s free and you only have to pay for your textbooks and uniform. Having the license is at least 5 points, and if you chose to work as one for a few months that’s another 5 points. That’s what I did for the extra boost, hopefully it may help some others on this thread. Good luck!
