Mt. Sac Nursing Spring 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone,

I decided to make this post to connect with others who will be applying to Mt. Sac's program for the Spring of 2019. After calculating my points for the multicriteria screening I'm currently at 52 points before the Hesi. I'm scheduled to take the Hesi on the 31st. Really hoping to end up with 77-80 points, I've read that the cutoff is usually around 77 points so I'm praying that will be the case this year as well. Although I saw a comment on the Fall 2018 thread & someone got in with 72 points as an alternate. I'll also be applying to Chaffey, San Bernardino Valley & .

Good luck everyone!

Ok what's everyone doing with their job situations now? Is anyone going to keep working? I have to quit since I work a 9 - 5 but maybe I can go for CNA once we pass the fundamentals course.

I don't work at the moment but I am looking for a part time. I am at a point where I need to work even if it is part time so I figure start now and work out my schedule later on. I hear mixed comments regarding working but in the end it's depending on your situation and time management skills.

I got an email for an alternate. Anyone else got placed on the alternate list? Don't know if I should start planning on being in the program....any suggestions?

I think it depends on where you are on the alternate list. I think there are plenty of chances for you to get in as theres opportunities for people to not accept at one point or another. I say just prepare little by little. Have you applied to any other programs?

No I haven't. Mt sac is my first and only choice at the moment. Ughhh another waiting game. I'm going to call tomorrow and see around what time frame will they let the alternates know if they are in or not or what number in the list I am.

Yes. Definitely call to see where you are on the alternate list if it is not stated in the email. As for letting you know I would think it'd the first week of Dec. Accepted students have until the 26th of Nov to respond.

I got my acceptance email as well. So excited and relieved! The wait felt like forever. Congrats to everyone that got an email. Don't forget to reply to the email confirming that you plan on attending the program. My counselor had told me that a lot of people forget to reply and end up losing their spot.

I would still be hopeful since when I went to the application workshop the lady there told us that a lot of people dont reply to their acceptance emails so they dont get a spot or some people won't show up for orientation and some people drop because they decide to go to another school. She said one co hort they ended up taking 18 of 20 alternates.

That's what I heard too from the student nursing panel at the health conference fair at mt sac, that it comes down to time management and how you study. I'm so excited to be starting though!!

I am too. Nervous but excited. I'm already putting the book list on a list.

I am on the alternate list as well. I called right when I got the email and was told we will not know whether or not we are in until the second day of orientation in January. Also she said they no longer tell you your ranking number, or even how many people are on the alternate list. Please let me know if they tell you anymore information!!!!!

How do you know what books will be used?

Just look at previous semesters' books. They're essentially all the same.

If you go to the Mt. Sac bookstore website, you can click on the link where there are text books and select Fall 2018 and you can select the courses. I figure it is the same curriculum for all sections and semesters. I looked up Nurs 1A and 1B as well as Nurs 2? Pharmacology.

Yeah I did that but no books or materials popped up. Maybe it was because I checked on my phone and not a computer. I'll try checking from a computer. Thanks anyways.
