Hello everyone,
I decided to make this post to connect with others who will be applying to Mt. Sac's program for the Spring of 2019. After calculating my points for the multicriteria screening I'm currently at 52 points before the Hesi. I'm scheduled to take the Hesi on the 31st. Really hoping to end up with 77-80 points, I've read that the cutoff is usually around 77 points so I'm praying that will be the case this year as well. Although I saw a comment on the Fall 2018 thread & someone got in with 72 points as an alternate. I'll also be applying to Chaffey, San Bernardino Valley & Western Governors University.
Good luck everyone!
I used elsevier's hesi study guide and online practice tests. You can get it from Amazon for around $20-$30. They have all1 your basic anatomy and physio. The math is all basic addition subtractions multiplications and divisions but the numbers are large and you cant use a calculator nor do they provide one so just make sure you add correctly. Also they have a lot of word problems.
Hi everyone,Can someone tell me what they used to study for the HESI A2 exam? I tried looking at Mt. SAC site but couldnt find information on which kind of study guide to utilize. Any information would greatly be appreciated! Thanks!
Also besides the HESI study guide book I would recommend getting some apps on your phone. There are a couple that are free and really good. And also take some practice tests online like someone mentioned. The only section that the study guide book could be better is in anatomy and physio because the information in there is pretty basic compared to the the more detailed questions on the test.
I would recommend using your notes from anatomy and physio class to study. Also the vocab in the study book is almost identical to what is asked on the test. Good luck
So I had my counseling appointment about 3 weeks ago. It went well, everything checked out. My counselor did not tell me where I ranked in because she said that they were not allowed to do so, but she did show me my points and said I have a good shot of getting a spot. Hopefully I do lol. My counselor said that my points can change depending on if all of my documents are accepted by the nursing department once they do their review. So hopefully everything checks out and we all hear something by mid-November. I have already applied once to this program, and due to a documentation error on my part I was not accepted. So I'm really hoping I get in this time. Good luck to everyone!!! If anyone gets any emails or updates please post it on here and keep us all in the loop!

Sorry to hear about the error but good luck this time around! Can I ask at what point you knew you weren't accepted? Was it before or after the counseling appointments? Hopefully we hear sooner than later regarding acceptance but I know they just finished their counseling appointments recently so who knows when in November we will find out. Seems to me that the cut off points is around 72 from the information posted on this thread, I just don't know if that is including accepted and alternates or just the top 60. This waiting is making me more anxious by the day but still sending out good vibes! If I hear anything I will definitely post!

So last time i applied they sent out the emails about the counseling appointments five days after the application closed. I got an email so I assumed everything on my application was, for the most part, correct. I scheduled and went to my counseling appointment. The counselor checked everything and told me I should be in if everything checks out when the nursing department does their review. She even told me where I was ranked compared to everyone else. Then after the counseling appointment it took them about a month and a half to get back to us.
Then I got the email that I was not accepted. I called and found out the reason for this. I was also told a lot of people made the same mistake as I did. So I'm hoping this time I didn't make any errors on my application lol. I feel like waiting to hear anything back is the worst part!
Like you said hope to hear from them sooner rather than later. And I'm not sure either if the cutoff includes the alternates. Good luck!
