Hi everyone! I just joined this site and thought I'd take the time to introduce myself.
I recently was accepted into a MSN-Direct Entry (Clinical Nurse Leader) program. I start in January and am very excited to learn.
Is anyone else here a direct entry student?
I currently hold a Bachelors in Biology and have been working in a research lab for the past three years. During that time I have been taking the necessary pre-reqs needed to get into nursing school. I was unsure what I wanted to do right after college and I am glad that I took the time necessary to figure it all out. Now I am am eager to be a student again and look forward to a career in nursing.
I'm starting in the Master's Entry to Nursing Program at DePaul in January. Also doing the CNL thing most likely - I think it's the consolation prize for having had to do the master's research thesis thingy.
Wooo wooo Depaul! ....haha...sorry I couldn't help but give props. Just finished my first quarter, so maybe I'll see you around in January! (Although I really doubt it, I never see anyone except my cohort) But hey, let me know if you have any questions re: classes/clinicals/teachers/anything. More than willing to help.
Of the three Masters-Entry programs in Chicago/Illinois, DePaul and Rush both do the CNL thing while UIC makes their students get their RN and then throws them into an advanced care MSN program.
I don't think Depaul has any CNL certs. We only have that CNL internship at the end of the program. All the APN certs are NP (from what I gathered at las.depaul.edu/nursing).
no, you are by no means to be buried by pharm! just study a few hours every day, keep reviewing the notes, and you will be fine. in margaret's words, "repetition makes perfect". she really does want you to succeed, and will by no means let you fail. trust me. shes basically amazing, slightly neurotic, but amazing nonetheless.
I turned in my application for UT Memphis' direct entry master's program last week! It's also CNL. The class starts in July. Evidentially they have misplaced the paper packet of my application though that had my transcripts and my CPR certification. Of course they didn't email me until after 5 on Friday so I'm worrying about it all this long 3-day weekend! Hopefully I can get it straightened out since I hand delivered it and maybe the assistant just misplaced it. I'll find out if I get an interview in a few weeks and know if I got in by the end of Feb! I already have a B.A. and a M.S. so this was the best choice for me.
Did Baptist not work out for you? Hopefully they will find your packet. I am anxiously waiting to hear about the interview. I wonder how many applicants they have....I think they said they were looking for an entering class of about 75 right? Keep me updated...hopefully we will be classmates in July!

No, I am not staying at Baptist. I'm in my first semester there and I like the classes and the people, but I am beyond frustrated by the fact they only accepted 18 of my hours for transfer credit from my undergraduate and graduate degrees. I added it up and I would end up spending about $12k on general education credits by the time I start clinicals- which won't be until Fall 2010.
I talked to admissions today and she told me that they probably do have my packet, they just haven't had time to process it yet. I am just anxious to know about the interview as well! I do think they said about 70-75 at the info session in November. Good luck to you as well, and hopefully we'll be on a new journey in July!

Hello everyone,
Just to introduce myself, I am applying for about a dozen Direct Entry Master's programs throughout California and the East Coast.
I have a Biology degree, with three years experience in a hematopathology clinical laboratory.
Best of luck to all applicants, and I look forward to meeting and discussing this hectic process with you all!
