MSN-Direct Entry
Nursing is definitely going to be it for me...no going back after this. I have been a teacher for 4 years and I like it okay...I just can't imagine doing this for the next 30 years. Nursing is so appealing to me because there are so many different areas to go into. Do you live close to UT? It will be a long drive for me if I get in...I'm in Oakland

I meant to ask you....what were your 2 other degrees in? We are sort of in the same boat...I have a Bachelor's in business and a Master's in teaching.

MSN-Direct Entry
Did Baptist not work out for you? Hopefully they will find your packet. I am anxiously waiting to hear about the interview. I wonder how many applicants they have....I think they said they were looking for an entering class of about 75 right? Keep me updated...hopefully we will be classmates in July!

School Nurse wants to be a Teacher...how?
Hi all... found this interesting b/c I am actually an elem school teacher wanting to become a nurse....go figure. I am hoping that nursing is the fit I have been looking for, but if not I am going to get out of it ASAP! Being a teacher I highly suggest you try to do some subbing or if you have a friend that is a teacher spend some time in their classroom. Not to be discouraging, but I had NO clue what life in the classroom would really be like. I was thinking I love kids, summers off, etc. It is extremely challenging, low pay, and full of drama. You have to keep in mind that you can't please everyone....there is usually always a couple of parents and kids that are challenging, to put it nicely! :chuckle Be prepared to work far more than 40 hours a week... a teacher's job is never over at the end of the day. Unless you are in a private school, be prepared for exhausting demands from NCLB and other similar things. I think you have to truly be passionate about the field to really be content with it. I just feel very bored with it and cannot imagine doing this for the next 30 years! Do you guys feel the same about nursing? I just hope I find something I truly love!

UT Memphis totally revamping their program
Good luck to you also, Memphis Tiger! I was between Union and UT... liked that Union would take 12 months but did not like the price tag! I am hoping the CNL will help me in the long run.... I am wanting to eventually become a CRNA and maybe having a MSN from UT will get my foot in the door. Are you having to take alot of additional classes at Baptist (Religion, etc.) ?
