Has anyone seen this movie? I hear it's great.
I've seen it - rented it on NetFlix and watched it on my computer. My youngest daughter is pregnant and we watched it together. It was certainly eye-opening, and it made me rather angry as well. Women in this country are so uninformed about the interventions that are routinely prescribed during childbirth... and the results can be less than ideal, to put it mildly.
If you watch it, be prepared to see lots of boobs, LOL!
I am a California Association of Midwives (CAM) member and we put a showing on locally. People were crying. I thought it was pretty good, but nothing I saw was new information, in fact if anything it was lacking; however, for people that are new to what the maternity system is really like it was very informative.

I think this is why I'm not in a hurry to watch it. I took the Bradley classes which required a lot of reading (my instructor gave us five books each and required certain chapters to be read)...I know none of it is new information. But for those that are not avid readers I think its good because they can learn alot in just a couple hours.
Wow. Really makes me glad that I am finished.... for my part, I have had two C sections... the first one turned out fine, the second one resulted in my having my incision dehisce (sp?) and having to have it packed for pretty much the whole time I was on maternity leave.
If I knew the things that I know now when I first started having children... I would have gotten assistance from a midwife. But... guess what? I may have had a difficult time doing that since homebirth is ILLEGAL in KY and many other states.
WHY is that anyway? Lobbying from corporate bigwigs?
I have seen it. I really enjoyed it. I did not "lear" much persay. I have never had a midwife, none in my area, and my last couple pregnancies were too high risk. Buit I did have 3 natural births. I think this kind of education needs to be more mainstrem, so we can try to bring our morbidity and mortality down!

Haven't seen the movie, but I'd like too. After watching the clip I am grateful that I had 2 of my 3 girls all natural.
