Mount St. Mary's College LA - Accelerated BSN 2010

Published

This is a new thread for anyone that has applied to the Mount St. Mary's College Accelerated BSN program in Los Angeles for 2010 entry.

This is my second application for admission since I wasn't offered admission for Fall 2009. Did anyone hear anything back yet for Spring 2010? Is there an interview process? I have read conflicting information on this topic. I also applied to Samuel Merritt in the Bay Area (also turned down twice to 2 programs for Fall 2009 entry). They wont be sending out admission offers until February for March start dates!! Would love to hear from fellow nursing school hopefuls :o)

Good luck to all you!!

Just got home. OK, it's all in their hands now. My interview was about 20 minutes or so and I really got her talking. She asked the ethical situation question! Thank goodness I was ready. Thanks everyone for all the support up to this point. Good luck and let's start hearing when we receive letters of acceptance!!!

Hi everyone! I just had my interview today too! :) Best of luck to everyone; I'm hoping for good news next week! ;)

It was nice to meet you Pauli lol (I finally decided to participate in this forum; I was sooo nervous about everything! but I felt good about my interview which eases my anxiety a little. It was so funny that I sensed you were before me Pauli! when I was reading online, i was like- this dude before me sounds smart so i was a little nervous lol (and you just had to decide to wear glasses to make u look smart too?! haha that's funny...

And Sugarlips- I think I might have met you at the last orientation at Cedars SInai?? I remember you telling me about this forum! I really hope everything goes well for us and that we'll hopefully be together this fall! :) Are you attending the next orientation on Tuesday at cedars? If so then I'll see you there :)

Hello jie123,

What is that orientation at Cedar's Sinai?

Yeah, what are we missing out on?

I'm glad that your interview went well! I felt really lame asking you and that chick, "uh... Are either if you on the allnurses forum?"

Good thing that you knew what I was talking about. I wouldve felt super nerdy otherwise.

The orientation is for the volunteer program at cedars sinai.

I heard through a friend that the acceptance letters are going out at the end of next week.

Good Luck everyone! :)

i was just talking to a lady who is in the program for may 09 cohort right after my interview and she was just wanna cry as she tells her story about the program. She said" I lost my life " since she got in and she didnt even have time to her family and friends. the program itslef is gonna kick our ??? . I was just, OOOhhhh, Im start to get scared now

there's a couple "solve for X" questions but real simple...for example: 42 = 5x + 2...x = 8.

lots of addition, subtraction, division, multiplying of decimals and fractions. conversion of percents into decimals, decimals to percents, percents to fractions, etc. and 1-2 word problems.

do you get a calculator or is it all by hand?

For the person that said they didn't think the interviewer liked them for being real, I would suspect you are over-analyzing or being a bit negative b/c you are nervous.

I didn't say the interview didn't like me for being real, I said I didn't think she liked my answers because they weren't the typical cookie cutter response. I was nervous at the time of the interview because everyone else was in there for 15 to 20 minutes and my interviewer came out less than 8 minutes with the guy before me. I am actually not nervous at all. I have been accepted at other schools and have a place to go if I am not accepted. MSMC is just my school of choice. I said what I said because I thought she was very military and straight to the point. Out of the three schools I interviewed for and got into as well :clpty: , this was the weirdest of all interviews. Very to the point, no emotions, just facts.

Has anybody heard statistics about how soon MSMC nursing students find jobs after graduation? I've read some articles about how tough it is for new grad RN's to find jobs right now, and it makes me a little nervous. Don't mean to be a downer... just curious. :)
