This is a new thread for anyone that has applied to the Mount St. Mary's College Accelerated BSN program in Los Angeles for 2010 entry.
This is my second application for admission since I wasn't offered admission for Fall 2009. Did anyone hear anything back yet for Spring 2010? Is there an interview process? I have read conflicting information on this topic. I also applied to Samuel Merritt in the Bay Area (also turned down twice to 2 programs for Fall 2009 entry). They wont be sending out admission offers until February for March start dates!! Would love to hear from fellow nursing school hopefuls )
Does anyone know if the interviews are being held in at the Doheny or Chalon Campus? Also, does anyone know what campus we will be attending classes for the Acc BSN. It appears that the Doheny campus isn't in a great area?
your interviews will definitely be at the doheny campus. the ABSN program has little connection to the Chalon campus. All of your classes will be at doheny, which is near the corner of Adams and Figueroa, a few blocks away from USC. the area is not spectacular, but the campus itself is very pretty.
also, your interviews will most likely be in building 5, as that's where the nursing office, skills lab and classrooms are for the program.
nursingmale....that is very cool that you got it to SFSU. I know it is hard to get into. Just to let you know though...MSMC does have a good amount of males from what I hear there. My husband is also applying there when I finish. He had to wait to finish his pre-reqs. If there is gossip going on all day, I am going to have to join you at SFSU because I have more important things to do with my life that talk about petty crap and pick people apart...LOL! So I hear you on that loud and clear!
princessandraya- Remain positive. From what you have told me, you are one of the better applicants. I received it this morning, so maybe you will get yours later today or tomorrow morning. Keep the faith! I have a feeling you will get an interview. You deserve it!
So the remaining positive thing worked! Thanks to everyone for their positive thoughts! The email came today when I totally did not expect it. I was in line for a ride at Universal Studios and all you hear me saying is "Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God!" my kids and husband are like what's wrong! And I scream I got an interview. I got about 200 applause and cheers from strangers so it was a pretty cool moment. Too bad it wasn't an acceptance email, that would have been really special. But I am still happy it finally came and hope I do well at the interview. Maybe we will finally all get to meet????
Hey Nursingmale, I'm on the waitlist for SFSU as well. However, to get an NP you'll have to work before getting the NP. I don't think the entry MSN will allow you to get your NP right away. Be sure you get the straight story first.

AHHH THANK YOU! I think you are right about the NP...they want your RN first and a year ICU or CCU as well. I know for UCLA you have to do it this way and a few other schools I checked into. But, if it is a 3 year MSN program they have you do your RN first and then count your hours towards your NP, so who knows. Every school seems to do it a little different, ya know!
sugarlips....I asked you a couple days ago about you already being in the program. For some reason I thought I had read in previous posts that you started in May??? What day is your interview. Any tips for me?
Mine is scheduled for Monday, so I guess I'm one of the first in this round? SCARY. I don't know how to prepare either... Let's just be ourselves and hope for the best. I reeeeally hope to see all of you in the Fall :)
