Mount St. Mary's ABSN 2011 applicants

Applying to MSMC's 2011 absn program? Yeah, me too. Just wanted to hearing from others in the same boat.

Hi I stumbled across this thread and looks like I'm on the same boat as everyone here. I scheduled my interview already (it's coming up so soon!), and wish you all luck in the process!

Hi All,

This is my first post on this thread. I too received an e-mail last week and will be interviewing tomorrow morning. I hope to be meeting you soon.

Congratulations to everyone who's made it this far! Good luck to everyone on their interview. Is anyone getting interviewed this Wednesday? Just wondering if I'll see anybody from this thread there... ;)

Congrats everyone. I had my interview yesterday. It's kind of difficult to find parking and the office, so leave extra time.

It was really brief, I was basically asked to say a little bit about myself, to which I said a lot of the same stuff I wrote in my essay. A little heads up to anyone who hasn't had their interview yet, one tricky question was to describe an ethical dilemna I have faced in the past.

Letters of acceptance are being mailed the first week in February!

Specializes in Pediatrics.

Yeah, I knew ahead about that question. Sorry I didn't share. For those that didn't already interview you should look up our thread from when my cohort applied last year and the May cohort. You can see the whole process and what to expect.

In any case here's some questions you should be prepared to answer:

1. why did you choose nursing now/what made you want to choose nursing now?

2. what moral/ethical dilemma have you encountered?

3. how do you handle stress?

4. what is your support system at home?

5. how are you planning on handling finances?

6. are you good with time management?

7. what are your interests outside of school?

You will be interviewed by one person. BE NICE to the admin in the office. Dress professionally. Be on time. Have a question or two ready to ask. They are all about stress management and working out to relieve stress. You might be asked about how well you work with others.

Good luck everyone!

I had my interview today, and like Jo_Fitz said, it honestly is just basic questions that you can't really prepare for, except for the ethical dilemma one. My interview lasted for about 20 minutes, and I think it went pretty well. Let the waiting begin! The lady that interviewed me told me that they would be making their decisions by the end of next week, sending a list of the accepted students to the admissions office on the 31st, and so decision letters should go out in 2 weeks. Good luck everyone!

For those who already interviewed, when did you submit your application? Mine is still "In Review" and one of my recommenders just made the deadline. :sigh:

I think I submitted my application like a few days before the deadline which was November 1st. Did you have an interview? And I think everyone's status on webadvisor still says "complete - in review" until decisions are made next week.

I also submitted mine in October prior to the deadline. My status says "Complete - In Review" as well (I interviewed last week which is not reflected on my WebAdvisor account).

Thanks, yukikon and LJ815. My friend that's currently in the program went into the office and got a lot of useful information. Turns out, they already decided on the candidates to interview and they will be contacting those who got accepted this month. Congrats to all that made it this far!!

Hey all,

Congrats to all those who have received interviews. I have not heard anything yet and I am still "In Review" on Webadvisor as well. Anyone in that same boat?

I would call the admissions office and see what's going on. When I received the email for an interview, it said that interviews were conducted the last 2 weeks of January.. And the lady the interviewed me said decisions were going to be made at the end of the month (January).
