RE: Yahoo/Google Groups:
OK...Since I am bored and just sitting around waiting for my Bio Ethics books to get here, I went ahead and started the google group as well.
Here are the links:
http://groups.google.com/group/msmc_summer09_accbsn

I hope noone thinks I'm being pushy! I just have a lot of time on my hands right now and am getting nervous about school starting...so I'm obsessing!
I guess I'll keep both the groups open and we can decide which to use.
Any input/suggestions?
Jennifer
I feel like I know everyone already. I just got my letter of acceptance from Creighton in Nebraska.. They want 250 by Feb 26th and I am still waiting on another school.. Too much money. I really like the Kaiser scholarship with MSMC and the job. The thing that scares me is that I have read so many things about hospitals all of a sudden pulling programs.. I am trying to take a med term class for my own sake and a nutrition class that MSMC said that I had to take and a CNA class that is being paid for. I really don't want to take bioethics during the program but if I knew for 100% that I was going to MSMC I would look at that class.. Does anyone know exactly what the papers are? Also can you finish later? I am assuming you could work on it during the program if you didn't finish by May 11.... These seems like such a nice group of people. Does anyone have any idea what Kaiser the scholarship is for..
RE: Taylor Bio Ethics Class -
I saved pdf files of the assignments and course description from the online class. I'll post them in the "files" folders on the google and yahoo groups because I don't think I can attach things here. I haven't received my books yet, so I don't know what they're like.
I've heard that the class at MSMC consists of 2 papers (6-8 pages) and 3 exams.
As far as the Kaiser scholarship...I checked and there is a new powerpoint presentation on the MSMC website that went with the information session. It says that the hospitals require 2 - 2.5 years of service before the loan is forgiven. I'm assuming we will get applications whenever we get the packet that we are supposed to get after they receive our $400.
Here's a google site I threw together for the class. It has some nice functionality although there doesn't appear to be a way to add a discussion board for forum style posting, just blog style with comments. That seems to be the one thing google groups does better. If it looks like it will be useful, I'll keep it, otherwise it goes in the round file. If people want access to it to play around, edit, etc. let me know and I'll add you.
I made a google group that a few people have joined already, here's the link:
http://groups.google.com/group/msmc_summer09_accbsn
and there's also the yahoo group...

I personally like the layout/UI of the groups over the website.

Sounds good, I'll join your groups and get rid of the site

I am not familiar with google or yahoo groups so either one is fine with me. Let's decide so those who aren't familiar with it can start learning the format. We can start with communication on the bioethics class.
Whichever one is the easiest to share files, post and navigate is the one we should go with.
