anybody know anything about msmc interview process and

did anyone take the upper division bioethics class that they semi require for the admission?

where did you take the class?

To be clear, I was commenting on my experience with morning traffic in that area, not so much on the evening rush hour traffic. I never said that the 110 was better than the 10 during evening rush because it clearly isn't. However, from my experience, 10E in the morning is pretty much just as bad as 110. As Livenlearn mentioned, LA traffic is just really bad, and I completely agree that having to be at school and clinicals by 7 will help us avoid traffic.

Has anyone else signed up for the Taylor University Bio Ethics class?

I spoke to someone that is in the Summer 08 Accelerated class and she STRONGLY recommended that I get it out of the way before school starts. Just got the info from Taylor and the class looks like a bear!

Anyone also apply to CSUN Accelerated program for summer 09? I'm not sure which I'll choose if I get into both.

I did. I highly doubt that I will get in though. All the other states schools that I have applied to I havent.

I was just thinking of that. I still haven't made up my mind for MSMC.I will have to send my 400 since I won't hear from other schools yet. I am retaking nutrition for MSMC because I didn't take one for health care and I have to finish it early because MSMC starts early. I am also taking 2 classes for myself and am starting a nurse assistant course this week. I think that it would be great to get it out of the way and apparently it is cheaper but I looked at that class and it said it was 5 papers.. I hate papers and especially in ethics..What did you find out about it? Is that the one that you have 6 months to take. When I interviewed Mary said that half of the students get it out of the way but the other half really like the teacher at MSMC so I guess it is a personal choice.. Since I haven't committed in my mind I havent looked into it.. I agree though- scary to add one more class to the program !!1

Does it look like a self study program with 5 papers? Do you have the syllabus for the class? I went to the website and it looked like there were quite a few books to purchase for the class.

the class calls for 4 papers of 6 or so pages and 1 paper of 25 pages. And there are 4 books on the syllabus. We're supposed to read all 4 books, email the prof that we've read them and then start on the papers. It looks like a ton of work, but i really want to get it out of the way.

On a different note...i am sooooo happy to see that I'll have classmates over 40 like me!!!

I've been considering taking the class at Taylor as well. That 25 page paper scares me a little though. It is at your own pace so that is a plus in addition to not having to take it during school. Someone mentioned in another thread that the teacher is an "easy" grader but I would take that with a grain of salt since they could just be that damn good at writing. I think I'll drink some scotch and ponder it for a while. If you decide to go for it, please let us know how it goes.

Yea I went on the link that someone had and it looked like a lot of books and 5 papers? I know that it would be nice to get out of the way but since I am already taking a bunch of classes now and I hate writing papers... and I am not 100% sure that I will end up at MSMC I guess I will take my chances . I have heard that the students really like the class that is offered on campus.

I have been thinking about taking the bioethics class before we start the program. But to tell you guys the truth, I hate paper. English is my 2nd language and I really can't write a 25 pages paper; even the 5 pages takes me for ever to finish. I have a very strong background in sciences though!!! Like some scientific I just can't stand writing papers.

Taylor university is not the only place were the bioethics class can be taken. I am looking around to see which CalState is offering the class for spring 09. I am thinking about CalState LA, but they do not have the spring schedule online yet. I might have to call them!!! Anyway, I'll let you nkow.

I send my application at CSUN for the ABSN, but to tell you the thruth I'm not counting on it. They are overwhelmed by applications and the chances to get in are really small. They wont get back to us before April, that's why I send my $400 check to MSMC already. It is clear that I'll go for it if I'm accepted because it is cheaper than this one at Mount; eventough CSUN doen't have the Mount reputation...

Please let us know if you'll go for Taylor Univ. and if you receive any information from the school about anything so that noone will be left behind. Thank's...
