I received an interview for this school!
I am really nervous about the interview:heartbeat
anybody applying to program let's share some informations!!
anybody know anything about msmc interview process and
did anyone take the upper division bioethics class that they semi require for the admission?
where did you take the class?
thanks
any other questions and comments are welcome
Oh, and just out of curiosity. In regards to the line, "...instructions for completing the FAFSA online that are enclosed with this package." Does this mean anything beyond simply filling out the FAFSA form online as there were no other forms beyond the acceptance letter and decision form?
i got a medium? that's so odd! i wonder why they distributed the sizes the way they did. maybe on the first day of class we can all exchange sizes haha.
also, i thought the acceptance letter meant that a second package was going to arrive containing financial aid information. i believe that that's how it was for last year's class as well, but i think it'd be best to call and confirm.
thanks.. what apartment? Is it a large building? I am going to try to come down Thursday. I have no idea about L.A. When you say "not the best area" can you expand on this? I see there are other cities? near by .. Pasadena and Alhambra. On the map they look close but are these places long commutes with the traffic? I really appreciate any help you or anyone can give me. Thanks for the area code tip..
Hi dmskoka
I said it is not the best area cause it is really not the best area (especially right next to USC).
you will see what I mean when you come. But please don't get scared.. it is not that bad. I just said that because you said you come from suburb and MSMC area is not like that!
and apartments right next to msmc school looks okay.
There are traffic on the local streets and bet ya on the freeway especially around noon and 6pm! But once you know your way around there, you can kinda avoid traffic.
I chose to go to this school cause they have a scholarship program (msmc is affiliated with few hospitals like kaiser) and that scholarship pays 25K or 24K. I heard almost all students who apply get it.... (I really hope so) so if we get that then tuition shouldn't be too much of a problem. THis school also has very good reputation! They don't have the best NCLEX passing rate but pretty good(usually above 90). why don't you reseach on this school a bit online! that is what I did and really helped me. Also go to thread for last year's MSMC applicants. THey probably have most the answers to your question.
Thanks so much.. Appreciate it.. I have heard very good things but will try to research a little more. I volunteer up here at John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek and run into many students.. That is a great thing because I get to ask them about the schools and have talked to a few teachers from Samuel Merritt. When I interviewed with Mt. St. Marys' Mary said that Samuel Merritt was very good also. I figure they are similar in rep from what I heard.. I really want lots of lab/clinical practice with teachers that you give us attention.. Especially with the money that we are paying:chuckle Thanks for all your help. I am sure it will all be a lot clearer when I come down.:)
LOL. I received an X-L and sported it to a formal dinner -- I just knotted it in the back:) I am extremely happy to have been accepted and will pay the $400 to reserve a spot, but at the same time I have to wait until early April to see where else I was accepted!!!! Does anyone else have to wait till early April to see if they get into some other Summer programs????????? There are pros and cons --namely MSMC costs -- to all of the programs that need to be considered...However, if I choose MSMC, I cannot wait to meet all of you gals and hopefully guys??????

I, too, won't hear from the other schools until march, dmskoka. i guess we'll have to cough up the $400? i'm not sure how that works. let me know what you plan on doing, but right now i guess we have no other choice?
to everyone looking for housing: i live 10-15 minutes away from msmc. don't feel like you have to stick to the 90007 zip code unless you want to be super close to campus. there are a lot of safer/cheap options in the surrounding areas! morning traffic won't be a problem (classes start at 7:00 a.m from what i remember and traffic at that time is not bad) but traffic back home might be, turning a 10-15 minute commute into maybe 30 or so minutes (especially during rush hour.)
(btw, i live in the glendale/pasadena area.)
congratulations to everyone!! hope to see you in may!
