  1. I did not think at all that I made a brazen statement about the staff and professors there. Some were very very good but some weren't as good about understanding/supporting students. I was being very honest when i wrote that sentence. It is also a brazen statement if you didn't go through what I did and tell me that I made a brazen statement.
  2. yeah.. I was in MSMC Accelerated program and I left the program early and I am glad I did (I am now in a different school). I realized I couldn't afford MSMC (they increased the tuition) and with all that money students were paying, student to clinical instructor ratio was the same as the community college nursing schools.. I thought "Why do I have to pay so much more if I don't get as much help and care from the professors than other schools that are way cheaper?" and I also felt that some of the staffs were not very supportive of students. I feel that if i paid less, I wouldn't have expected alot from the program and complained as much about the program. anyways MSMC isn't a bad school but they do overcharge! (and when I requested the school for my tuition back after dropping out, they first refused to give me the money back by saying even though students drop out they still need to pay the professors (I was like what the heck? if I don't get the service (education) then why do I am I getting charged?.. I was about to report this school to Bureau of Private Postsecondary Education for not giving my money back and they eventually did... about a year later.. thank God..the lady (the head of the Financial Aid)listend to my plea and help me out!) I do not want to make MSMC look bad but I did have some negative experiences myself..paying more money doesn't necessarily equate to better education and care for students from school so watch out!
  3. I went to CSUN nursing website and it says it is accredited by CCNE... But I have been hearing that they lost their accreditation from some people too... but anyways.. MSMC A-BSN has been accredited by CCNE too right? (since MSMC don't make that clear on their website)
  4. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/msmc_accbsn_summer_2009/ here is the link just follow direction on the website there are several others who are taking the class at taylors so join the yahoo group and talk to us there!
  5. HI I am taking at Taylor If you got accepted to our program... Join the yahoo group (there should be a link to it few pages in this forum) I can't find another school that offer this course so I am taking it at Taylor (I was hoping to take it at CSU (cheap) but they don't have this course as an extention course for general public..)
  6. damn... thanks for warning us. yes someone already warned me about unorganized administration. I am sorry that you had trouble there and (I guess me too since I will be going there). so painscale Are the grades curved or on a straight scale? (there is always competition when the grades are curved because it means somebody getting an A might mean somebody else is not getting an A)
  7. Hey summer 2009 Accel prgram students lets try to use our yahoo account to post and answer our questions from now on like Karen mentioned. putting all the information in one place will be better. I believe everyone who is in the program joined the yahoo group? if you didn't please do so! (google group is now ditched!). see you guys there
  8. 1. Are Kaiser, Torrance, and Northridge still the three hospitals participating or is it now only Kaiser? I've read on a couple other threads that they may not be offering the scholarships anymore b/c people weren't fulfilling the 2/2.5 year comittment. --> Yes all three still participate I believe. 2. If you apply for the scholarship, can you still apply to other new grad programs? ----> I believe you can apply to other scholarships but You probably have to only choose one (out of all the ones that you got accepted)at the end. BUt this is totally my theory. CAll MSMC student financial service to get an answer about this
  9. hi there yes his name is terry ferguson. this is from his info from the blackboard website: email [email protected] work phone (517) 332-5193 office location 264 hagadorn east lansing, mi 48823 i am an adjunct faculty member for the center for lifelong learning at taylor university. i received my doctorate from trinity evangelical divinity school and my masters' degrees from lincoln christian seminary and calvin theological seminary. i am the full-time pastor of university christian church in east lansing, michigan and i teach as an adjunct faculty member at siena heights university's extension campuses throughout michigan. besides having a deep passion for god's church and its mission to the world, i enjoy learning more about ways that i can improve and deepen that commitment. as a consequence i am an avid book reader, touching on varying subjects. i don't know if you would actually call this a hobby, but reading is one of my "hobbies." i am also a great fan of the cinema. i find going to the movies or watching a good video to be very relaxing. of course, i always watch films as a means of viewing the cultural perspective of the issues that are being addressed. i love the old classic detective films. i have been married to my wife luanne for almost 32 years and we have three lovely children; lyndsey, my teacher, greyson, my film student as savannah college of art and design, and chrystyn, my college student. we enjoy traveling and look forward to our excursions to the big city of chicago. ---------- since this school is a christian school, the professor is a pastor. i hope he is an easy grader. my writing really sux! when you enroll and pay, they will give you a website to go to... and blackboard is where all the class assignments are located.
  10. Hi labelledame I am taking that course right now.. I have all the books (got them real cheap from half.com and amazon.com.. all around only 5-20 dollars each) and I just started reading.. I really hate writing myself so I know i am gonna suffer next 3 months writing long papers but I know it is better to get it over with when I have free time like right now! good luck and see you in class reading is not that bad but really... I can't believe he expects us to write 25 pages for one of the assignments (other assignments are like only 5 pages if I remember correctly).. I know it is an upper division class but really... is he really going to read all that?
  11. Is the MSN program a program to become a nurse practitioner? If you are for sure you want to become a nurse practitioner, I say you go to that program. but if you are not sure and you are looking at other areas of nursing field (RN or master's degree in other field of nursing like midwife) then I say you should get your BSN first. Because I think if you go into MSN right now without a BSN, I don't think you have alot of flexibility later to choose a different field of nursing if you decide to be something other than a nurse practitioner. THis is my reason for going into BSN program instead of MSN. I want flexibility! ANyways I see why it is such a hard decision! Hope you make a right one! If you decide to come to msmc, we all welcome you! :wink2:
  12. Hi dmskoka I said it is not the best area cause it is really not the best area (especially right next to USC). you will see what I mean when you come. But please don't get scared.. it is not that bad. I just said that because you said you come from suburb and MSMC area is not like that! and apartments right next to msmc school looks okay. There are traffic on the local streets and bet ya on the freeway especially around noon and 6pm! But once you know your way around there, you can kinda avoid traffic. I chose to go to this school cause they have a scholarship program (msmc is affiliated with few hospitals like kaiser) and that scholarship pays 25K or 24K. I heard almost all students who apply get it.... (I really hope so) so if we get that then tuition shouldn't be too much of a problem. THis school also has very good reputation! They don't have the best NCLEX passing rate but pretty good(usually above 90). why don't you reseach on this school a bit online! that is what I did and really helped me. Also go to thread for last year's MSMC applicants. THey probably have most the answers to your question.
  13. haha i got an XL shirt and I think everyone did! i am not gonna wear it.. just hang it on the wall or something
  14. YAY~~!! Congrats dmskoka! Is MSMC your first choice? I hope you will join us! I am so glad I get to talk and share info with my classmates before starting school! I am going to live in an apartment near msmc and I been looking at it. Apartments seem cheaper than other areas so I am glad. Although the area isn't the best, they have cheap housing. Just google apartments online near zipcode 90007 like I did.
  15. Yes I am going to take the Bioethics class right now at Taylor University of Fort Wayne online. http://www2.taylor.edu/online/coursecatalog/philosophy/PHI410E.php They said guest students can start the class anytime and end it anytime as long as you finish the course within 6 month. THsi is where last year students recommended me to take the class. The class is 3 units and it is $275 per credit hour. Cheaper than mount. and starting google group is definately a great idea! I am waiting to hear from the rest of you guys about the acceptance! Good Luck!:w00t:
