Hello ABSN Summer 2009 Class! Congratulations on getting this far. I'm currently working on my MSMC application for Fall 2009.
I had a couple questions regarding the scholarship program/loan forgiveness:
1. Are Kaiser, Torrance, and Northridge still the three hospitals participating or is it now only Kaiser? I've read on a couple other threads that they may not be offering the scholarships anymore b/c people weren't fulfilling the 2/2.5 year comittment.
2. If you apply for the scholarship, can you still apply to other new grad programs?
If any of you pursue the scholarship program I would be really interested in hearing more about it.
Thanks so much for sharing! :bowingpur
my plans as far as ucla and cedar's are concerned is to apply for work out of school, i checked and cedar's no longer offers loan forgiveness because they are adequately staffed, and ucla reimburses for tuition if you are already working there.as for the yahoo/google group...it makes no difference to me, i've never used google groups before as i am no fan of their ui in general, but i'm sure i can live with it. if anyone else wants to start the group on google, post on here so we can join. if anyone wants me to go ahead and create it, i can do that too.
juninunmul: i ordered my books a few days ago and will get them in soon. have you been able to find any info about the professor that is teaching?
hi there
yes his name is terry ferguson. this is from his info from the blackboard website:
email [email protected] work phone (517) 332-5193 office location 264 hagadorn
east lansing, mi 48823
i am an adjunct faculty member for the center for lifelong learning at taylor university. i received my doctorate from trinity evangelical divinity school and my masters' degrees from lincoln christian seminary and calvin theological seminary. i am the full-time pastor of university christian church in east lansing, michigan and i teach as an adjunct faculty member at siena heights university's extension campuses throughout michigan.
besides having a deep passion for god's church and its mission to the world, i enjoy learning more about ways that i can improve and deepen that commitment. as a consequence i am an avid book reader, touching on varying subjects. i don't know if you would actually call this a hobby, but reading is one of my "hobbies." i am also a great fan of the cinema. i find going to the movies or watching a good video to be very relaxing. of course, i always watch films as a means of viewing the cultural perspective of the issues that are being addressed. i love the old classic detective films.
i have been married to my wife luanne for almost 32 years and we have three lovely children; lyndsey, my teacher, greyson, my film student as savannah college of art and design, and chrystyn, my college student. we enjoy traveling and look forward to our excursions to the big city of chicago.

since this school is a christian school, the professor is a pastor. i hope he is an easy grader. my writing really sux!
when you enroll and pay, they will give you a website to go to... and blackboard is where all the class assignments are located.
Message for students and graduates of AccBSN.How often do you use a computer for homework or research? I'm trying to decide if I should purchase a laptop for school or share our current computer at home with my family.
Thanks!
I live on my computer... but then I have and am taking a lot of online classes. I think the school will be giving us an online account.. If your family is on there all the time it might be worth it.. I haven't heard them stress the use of a computer as much as other schools though. Maybe wait till after the first week and see how it goes. My friend puts an egg timer on her t.v. for her kids --maybe that would work :-)

--> Yes all three still participate I believe.

----> I believe you can apply to other scholarships but You probably have to only choose one (out of all the ones that you got accepted)at the end. BUt this is totally my theory. CAll MSMC student financial service to get an answer about this
Hey summer 2009 Accel prgram students
lets try to use our yahoo account to post and answer our questions from now on like Karen mentioned.
putting all the information in one place will be better.
I believe everyone who is in the program joined the yahoo group?
if you didn't please do so!
(google group is now ditched!).
see you guys there
Congratulations to those who got into the program! I am in the program now and it's a real bear. Brace yourselves for an extremely intense program. Also, if you have the opportunity to take Bioethics somewhere else...DO....because MSMC is very expensive and taking it concurrently only makes an already difficult program even more difficult. Make it as easy on yourselves as possible. Also, be prepared for an extremely unorganized administration. Hopefully, by the time you get there they will have some issues worked out but it's been challenging. You don't really know what you are in for until you get there and I don't know that I would have understood a warning like mine. You have to be in it to understand. Also, competition and egos are there. Find someone you trust and stick with them. It's not how many friends you can make it's WHO is genuine and trustworthy and a team player. Good luck!
damn...
thanks for warning us.
yes someone already warned me about unorganized administration.
I am sorry that you had trouble there and (I guess me too since I will be going there).
so painscale
Are the grades curved or on a straight scale? (there is always competition when the grades are curved because it means somebody getting an A might mean somebody else is not getting an A)

i'm not sure which group people want to keep...the yahoo or the google:
Input anyone so I can shut down one and we can all join a single group?
I'm open to either.
