Mount Sinai PSON ABSN Fall 2021

Published

Starting the thread since I could only find Summer 2021z Has anyone applied to and/or gotten an admission decision from Mount Sinai PSON for their ABSN program starting Fall 2021? Where else did you apply? Share stats if comfortable, you know the drill! Thanks!

Hey Hey! I think they will consider your application if your GPA is under 3.25 as long as you did well in your prereq courses. Although I don't think the application service will allow you to submit without having a BLS certification. And I believe the class size is around 185 at least thats what Google says.

For the BLS you can write “in progress/planned” on word/pdf if you have not completed it and that will be accepted. I read past threads that said that is what they did. ? hope that helps.

Hi everyone! I just had a question about the nursing cas application and figured I'd ask here first before emailing the school. On the mount sinai website it says to mail my transcript directly to nursing cas, how do I do that? I did not see an address anywhere. Thanks in advance!

any recent acceptances?

Specializes in CNA, PCT/A, CPT.

Does anyone have a facebook group link for accepted PSON Fall 2021? I requested to join a group earlier in thread but no one replied to let me join.

I have not heard back. Application verified the first week of April. They did email me about a pre-req in progress a few weeks ago. I can’t imagine they’ve released too many decisions if they’re still working on Summer? I am hopeful, I would really like to be apart of this program.

Hi! Do you happen to know if they will accept a student provisionally if they have one prerequisite incomplete? Honestly, I don't want to pay for one more course if I'm not accepted! But if I'm accepted soon, then I'll enroll asap. ?

@yschon - thanks for visiting this forum as a current PSON student. Hope we don't pepper you with too many questions as we eagerly await our decisions!

To be clear: if you take Path/Pharm beforehand, you can't test out of taking them once at PSON, right? So you're recommending taking them beforehand via Portage or another online school in order to be better equipped once starting the program - am I understanding correctly? Or, are you saying that if we take them via Portage, we can then fulfill that requirement in order to avoid taking them at the same time as three other courses in our first semester?

Thank you for clarifying.

Firstly, everything I am saying is from the way it was in my cohort. I don’t know that it will be the same for you, but I am assuming that it will be.

Those of us that took path and pharm before the program did not have to challenge out; we just skipped the course entirely.

I was saying that many students found it easier to focus on the nursing courses once path and pharm were out of the way.

I saw that too. According to the syllabus, there are HESI practice questions we need to do & then we take the HESI exam. Maybe its for the AAS students

This is for the BSN students, but the HESI exam that you take is specific to the course that you are taking. For instance, if you are taking med surg and OB/peds in one semester, you will take the HESI practice questions and exam for medsurge and OB/peds. (Two separate HESI exams)

It’s the same for the Fall 2021 cohort. If you take the classes beforehand you can transfer them in.

So there is no exit HESI exam to graduate?
Also, do you have any study tips for exams?

I believe that there is a HESI exit exam, but I’m not there yet, so I wouldn’t know.

I personally use the Saunders book. I think that it’s great for last minute (or day) reviews before exams.

Thanks. I’m gonna get the Saunders and HESI comprehensive book.

Are the Professors helpful and provide you with study guides for the exams or do you have to figure things out on your own to pass exams?
