Mount Sinai PSON ABSN Fall 2021

Starting the thread since I could only find Summer 2021z Has anyone applied to and/or gotten an admission decision from Mount Sinai PSON for their ABSN program starting Fall 2021? Where else did you apply? Share stats if comfortable, you know the drill! Thanks!

But as for emina said above, regular courses may be online? I think it’s a good idea, labs/ clinicals in person and regular courses online. Well find out soon! 

I was under the impression when going into the program that we would be in lab more often, however, I am going into my third semester and we have only gone 2-3 times. IDK if that is because of covid or if that is just how the program is. 

clinicals were really good, once a week for about 5 weeks. you start your second semester. 

 

they said they are TRYING to have in person classes fall 2021, but we have been online as of fall 2020 and will be online Summer 2021

How is the workload with classes ? And are the Professors helpful ?

How do you like the program so far? Are the teachers/staff supportive?

Do you think having the classes online is challenging?

Wow you’re third semester! That’s amazing I’m so happy for you! So you will be finishing by this Fall! 
Have you gone to the new building of PSON? How do clinicals work?

@EdaTheInfermiereHi there! I haven't attended an Open House at PSON in a few years... Can you tell me more about this new location? Is it no longer in the PSON building? Thanks!

So, to clarify: we can take a Patho class in advance outside of PSON, and it will be accepted/transferred in for credit?! That's fantastic! Thanks for this tip. Where are folks taking Patho outside of PSON?

PORTAGE LEARNING!! The director of nursing @ PSON told me about this. I’ve currently finished taking an ethics course and in the process of completing a nutrition course. I will take Pathophysiology after.

Hi, everyone! Good luck to all of you... I decided at the last minute to apply once I realized the application deadline was extended. But NursingCAS says it will take 2 weeks to verify my transcripts! After entering the transcript details manually, plus sending official transcripts, seems like a lot of time to wait when my application is already complete! Does anyone remember if it actually took that long to have your application verified, or was it faster? Thanks in advance!

Its a good program. The professors are good for the most part.

Online classes arent as bad as I thought it would be. Just sucks not being able to really meet the people in our cohort and and group study

yes!! almost done!! 

yeah only once we went for lab. clinicals are in second semester so they send out a schedule

I have one last question! Off topic related LOL, but in regards to purchasing uniforms and the lab coats, the PSON told me the website is suite styles.com, when you purchased yours did the lab coats and the uniforms come embroidered with the logo?

How much approx. is the scrubs and lab coat?

I found that website to be pretty annoying in that it only ships your order once EVERYTHING you want is in stock, which takes basically a month to 'restock'. I found the required lab coat on Amazon and I ordered the required scrubs on https://www.nationalscrubs.com/

The lab coat was $18 on Amazon and I ordered 2 scrub tops/1 pants and it came to around $50. Definitely more expensive than the PSON affiliated site, but I would rather have them sooner. 

Also with regards to embroidered logos, I heard that PSON doesn't want us to get them embroidered? Not sure why, but that is what I heard. So I just avoided that altogether and ordered from another site.
